Strange windows update problem

Any advice will be welcome. I have my Windows Update set to only check and download at 03:00 am so that it falls in my night time data window. Yet, on numerous occasions, I get home in the afternoon to see an update had downloaded outside the window period, eating into my daytime cap.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Stupid question, but are you sure your PC isn't in sleep mode at 3am?

Hmm, my Utorrents download in my night time window as per schedule, so dont think it's that.

If an update is marked as important/critical/security and not updated within a certain period it will update when next connected

Also check if your NIC is set to turn the device off to save power.

That was my issue I had regarding updates updating out of the allocated time scope.
