Strike two for FNB’s Rbjacobs

The pizza I had last night is going to my hips for sure. Oh no, how can I talk to myself like that?! :p

^ this :/

It depends on the context. In this case they were already in trouble over the hugely offensive previous tweet. This one isn't nearly as bad, but people were much more ready to jump on them for anything inappropriate and they should have stepped their sensitivity levels up a notch and monitored outgoing tweets.

Yeah that previous tweet was well past full retard but this one seemed pretty "meh..." imo.

Full retard tweet - no excuse
Apologise profusely - get accused of being a bot
[try] Prove you're not a bot - get accused of insulting someone

People should lighten up, I thought it was a good reply.

That Justin dude is too fat in anycase.

Lol, it was a funny comment and Toughie being mr grumpy pants. I remember him being a mod in #herzlia and a few other chans.

It's all good and well having harmless banter if your brand is...say...Nandos. It's almost expected. In this case the posts in question certainly don't represent the brand, and on that basis come across as immature, personal jabs. These tweets are not the product of people who understand the brand correctly, so from a corporate perspective FNB should (rightly) be highly pissed off. It's all good and well trying to humanise a brand, but doing so at the expense of your customers is not the way to go.

This is the problem with trying to humanise a brand via social media. The human aspect often plays too much of a role and the brand image is completely forgotten. This illustrates it perfectly. Personally, I'd not fire the responsible parties - I'd fire the company hired to manage this instead, as they clearly do not understand the brand at all or are misrepresenting it entirely. If this is an internal team (unlikely) then it's very poorly managed...

Take risks, make mistakes.

It's a social media channel for a bank. An extension of customer service. Banks don't make jokes... ever (or provide decent enough service) - so any type of personal attack will result in some commotion. I would have offered Toughie a Virgin Active day-pass as a followup tweet

Personally i think they didnt need to mention the ice cream going to his hips. Why even go down that route. Big PR failure on FNB's part.
