Stripped Lub Nut...

You can try this:
1. Make sure the lifted side of the car is properly supported (no, not on a jack!)
2. Get a mate to sit on his ass with his feet pushing against the undercarriage/suspension while puling hard on the wheel towards him (or the nut) with both hands.
3. While he is pulling hard you try and untorque/loosen the nut. The outward force exerted by the rim on the nut from your mate pulling might just help in it catching some thread. If never done this on something this big but it has worked many times before on slightly smaller things.

If you can pry something in between the rim & hum and apply pressure that way you might also come right. or if you can get a hydraulic jack between the rim & chassis somehow and try to apply pressure that way.

This.

This ^ !!! It must work. Also Can use a wheel puller is you have one.

An angle grinder, with a small and very thin cutting disc to cut off the nut and piece of stud - I'm just guessing, pics would really help us, help you ... LOL !!

Yip just grind all the nuts off and remove the wheel to see what's happening.
Completely replace bolts,nuts and brakes.

Are they really called "Lub Nuts" in SA?

Surprised that nobody has suggested this, but take it to a Tiger Wheel; they'll charge you about R20 or so to take the wheel off, and they have all the proper equipment on hand, they'll probably even replace the knut for you at that price.

Otherwise you may risk damaging the chassis if something slips while you're working, I know it's not as much fun as doing it yourself, but professionals generally get the job done much quicker.

Good advice however how would he damage the chassis that way?

Only if you are Chinese ... the rest of us just call them lug nuts....:)

you probably stripped the wheel stud in the hub, so it is spinning with the nut. Ponders plan can work as you want the bolt to grab in the hub again so the nut can start turning....or drill the bolt to bits. Small drill bit, then bigger etc until you can get a cold chisel and BFH to the sucker.

Could you perhaps get a nut splitter in there.

yea they do charge like R250 max..

Update:

Saturday afternoon the damn nut came off at long last.

After hammering, drilling, driving to buy titan drill bits for hardened steel, more drilling and more donnering. I eventually gave up. Brother said he'll get it off, told him I'll give him a bottle of brandy if he get's it right. He and his GF was outside drilling, hammering, drilling, and what not for another 3 or so hours. She eventually came running in saying: "You owe me a bottle of brandy".

They drilled away the bolt and at one stage she took he side-cutter, grabbed onto the nut moved it side to side, up and down and when she pulled on it the remaining part of the drilled bolt broke off.

Never never never again...

I'm really glad it worked out for you Pitbull. It must have been hell. Umm, guess you will be a brother in law soon ?
