Strugling with Ubunti

Lol ... I have a setup downstairs which is mostly dedicated for flight sims.

Don't mean to derail the thread - I haven't done the wubi vibe before so won't be much help with it.

Just wondering if you're around Vatsim at all? Back in my religious FS days I was hooked on Groupflights :) Was always bummed at the lack of ATC in SA though!

Heh, I flew on Vatsim once or twice, but found it fairly quite in SA, and completely dead north of the border, so went back to the default FS ATC (they are still idiots). Never really experience in in FS X, but in FS 9 they liked put me (in an ERJ-145) #2 for landing behind a King Air, then telling me to go around when my nose is almost up the King Air's rear.

Never used Vatsim before ... I've no idea how ... but on top of that, I'm only mediocre with flightsim ... I'll try it out once I get rudder pedals though. Starting the real deal in June though :)

It changes the FS experience completely - check it out. Real-time interactive ATC, with live controllers, real-time air traffic aswell with all the other users.

Alright folks, back to grub issues. . . . :)

Hi Guys. Sorry for long delay ... been working and away :P
I see now that if I wait for about a minute or so it eventually goes in ... although the resolution goes off
the screen. Apparently Ubuntu doesn't like being connected to a Full HD TV with an HDMI, and DVI is fine.

Tried some remedies on the net for the screen res, and that opening error, but that didn't work :(

HDMI to my tv works wonderfully. What graphics card are you using and which drivers?

It's a 4670 ... I tried to find drivers to work with linux ... but when I download them of ATI's site, and try open the file ... it doesn't work ... says something about it might be a binary file ... I dunno what that's all about though.

You need to install ATI drivers from terminal. Try "sudo sh " followed by the file you downloaded, eg, "sudo sh ati-driver-installer-11-2-x86.x86_64.run".

I'll give it a shot. Thanks. Do you know where I might find the file :P ... I dunno Linux directory structure

This is not coming over as being rude, I just want to safe you a lot of headaches and frustration.

You need to learn to use the WIKI of your chosen distro. It will solve 90% + of all your problems.

Lol ... no worries. I have taken a brief look at it ... but in general, I just don't have enough time on my hands to squiz over it :/ ... I'll refer there again though :P

/facepalm

If you simply downloaded via ATI website, it will be in a folder named 'downloads' in you 'home' folder, which you can access from the 'places' menu...
