Students complain about UNISA Exam

Been quite a bunch of hiccups at Unisa this year. With object oriented analysis the one assignment solution tutorial letter was distributed to students before the due date of the assignment.
 
I've been at unisa for ages and have never had a single problem,so they screw up one exam paper out of hundreds and now they suck....pffft.So many people here just love to hate.Pathetic really,next time UCT make a screw I'll have to get them taken off the 'top 200 universities in the world' list.

Someone I know has removed his daughter from a local campus ( his Alma-Mater )

Apparently one of the tests was delayed by two hours due to the hunt for the correct data for the questions-- THIRD time lucky.

Do yourself a favour and ask to see the scripts // papers ( answers ) from about ten twelve years ago.

Should be in the Uni archives somewhere.

Then -- COMPARE. ( you can try ANY Uni in SA )

If I am not mistaken there is some sort of board / International body that checks on the certifications of Universities worldwide

Perhaps they have a report for SA ?????
 
In The July eco's exams through unisa the they didn't have enough papers, but instead of recollecting every ones papers they just left them on there desks for 30min while ppl who had papers started looking through the papers and discussing it. What a joke
 
It is not the first time, last year the Matric exams in this country were badly translated from Afrikaans to English or visa versa, in some cases the Mathematics memorandum had calculation errors on them resulting in students getting full marks for a faulty question, I remember one year (2001 or so) when the CTA (grade 9 exams) had 183 spelling mistakes for Afrikaans and about 150 on the English paper. This is the first time a University has done anything similar though.

Believe it or not, you get forgivable (e.g. fender-bender) and unforgivable mistakes (e.g. manslaughter). Standards are based purely on what you forgive and what you do not. And the kind of mistakes that happen are a good indication of standards (i.e. you'll think a lot harder about buying a house than you will about buying a mobile phone) due to the repercussions involved.
 
I am with UNISA for a few years now and I have yet to find any major faults with them!! the first problem i encountered with them was last semseter, I wrote a paper without knowing my year mark.
 
Just a question.Why do some people look down at UNISA students?Do they think its easier or what?

Your main Universities where the degrees have to meet external standards usually have good quality. This ranges from Wits to UCT, to Stellenbosch, to UJ, etc.
The courses such as : Engineering, Law, Actuarial Science, Sciences etc. are usually monitored and the standards are set externally. In fact, My Engineering course is pretty much the same as the one offered at MIT... Teaching needs to be a little more stringent I think though :p.

The Wits admin is pretty useless as well (at least in the Science faculty). In my second year it was a whole month into classes before I was registered for Computational and Applied maths 2

Most UNISA students are already working and on the job experience not only ads value but also helps steer the student towards a qualification that is of benefit to the student and his/her employer/career.
 
I think UNISA gets looked down on till the day you start working 8 to 5 and realise how difficult it is to work and study at the same time.
