Study PHP

Please don't laugh my my question:

Is there something like a course to study to be able to code in PHP online? I'm interested in learning. What would the requirements be?

I'm applying for a job that requires that I know wordpress well also PHP. I'm fine with wordpress, but I'd like to tell them that I'm currently studying. Also... I just want to know it (with or without the job).
 
I looked at this a while ago and the most credible PHP certification I found was that offered by Zend. You can then do the certificate at any institution that does Pearson VUE Testing like CTU or some FET colleges.

If you check out http://www.zend.com/en/services/certification/php-5-certification you will all the info there. Although, my honest opinion its a waste of time and money to get certified in PHP, rather get a software engineering degree and then learn PHP as you need to use it.

Why do you think the software engineering is better?

Other than you will get paid more and will have a better selection of employers to choose from, you will also have a much better understanding of programming and software design principles that a coding language course won't teach you. A programming language shouldn't be your job title, but rather a tool for you to solve a problem. Besides, most programming languages have similar principles, so if you know one, then its easy to learn others and apply good design principles to them

If you really want to call yourself a senior developer or architect one day, a software engineering degree is a step in the right direction.

LOL I know. Every year I feel like I want to quit web designing and do something else and then I apply for jobs and get ample freelance work. But never happy. *sigh*

sounds like you work.

if you started getting paid to do your favourite hobby full time, after a short while it will no longer be your favourite hobby.
Just find something that does not make you want to kill people while doing it, and do that.

there is no dream career out there for anyone. some people may claim different.
look at people who get paid to play games on twitch. most of them complain about it at some point.
