Not a fan of huge mansions myself, especially for a small family. I do like something cosy and contemporary, where everything doesn't echo throughout the house And yes, having a 10-seater home cinema is pretty awesome.

I don't like that roof. I prefer a squarer finish but then again I prefer modern design.

I currently have a house with a flat roof and while it looks great, it's pretty annoying. Every time it rains, you have to stress about whether the water-proofing is going to hold up

I have often wondered why many wealthy people live in mega mansions when they normally have smallish families ? I'm sure some of the rooms in those houses never get opened except when they get cleaned.

I just love the massive old trees, its always so quiet when you next to them, and on windy days the wind speaks to you through the big leaves.

Too much potential for unused space, because some things might look out of place if you try to fill up the empty space. Might suffer from the same echo problem as blu's relics from the Victorian era. Also fairly common.

Nowadays, to be quite honest, I do not think that R1 million is a lot of money. It is certainly not enough to retire on, I would say that you need between R 7 and R 12 million set aside to be comfortably off. You have to take into account inflation, which steadily erodes buying power.
