i know someone that will be in that list, there "holiday home" in cape town is 24 million. House at the river 12 million, house in joburg 23 million. So ya, 10 million is more looking at what they use as there sometimes on the weekend house

Everything in life simply takes a bit of time and organisation. When I started my business in Durban, I took over an 11 bedroom commune. People who do not want to live in a shack, could get together, sign a contract to be part of a group of 6-20 that rent a mansion, then pay their share of the monthly costs. For the owner, risk is less than relying on a single person/couple, to pay the rent.
A couple can share a room and thus pay less rent for a room, yet also help lower costs for Lights & Water, which is split amongst all occupants. Maintenance of the property can be delegated to those that need extra money. It would instill a sense of self worth in all in the mansion and each may go on to start another commune like it, elsewhere, helping more poor to lift themselves.

I have no problem with people making a lot of money if they work hard and smart and earn their money honestly.
Think Bill Gates, the late Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, etc.
If however they earned their wealth by abusing and/or underpaying staff, keeping creditors waiting for payment, using illegal tax evasion techniques, etc. then I have a problem with them.
I fear that a lot of the really wealthy people in this country got to where they are by doing the latter and hence the working class have a right to complain IMO.
I have a problem with management or business owners who refuse to give decent increases because there is no money yet they award themselves huge bonuses and increases.
They created the wealth? They took the risk, they put in hard hours, they employ and pay many people's salaries, they also own the businesses that pay millions apon millions in taxes each year to support the government and the country, they are not STEALING it from anyone, they most likely started off very small with a small idea and turned it into something big... I can assure you they were not given it, they did not steal it, so if not why not... No-ones stopping you from going out there and doing the same..
Of course there are people like this, but I always have faith that most people aren't like this.. I always look at my father who has a very succesfull business and has worked hard for what he has and what he has been able to provide his children with.. I don't know his business in and out but I do know he pays his staff well, he has a clear record with the tax man, staff get raises each and every year. He employs and supports a good 80-100 families. Did he gather wealth in the process? Of course, he took the risks and saw the opportunity. People look at the now, and don't look at the journey that it took to get to now..

I don't know if they measured it by the value of the houses or the worth of the inhabitants - two different things alltogether.
Value of their properties and other assets with primary residencies excluded.

Probably because that's a basic need.
Because that is where you live and when you sell that you would normally have to use the proceeds to get a new place to live in. So it's not an asset in a true sense unless you planing to be homeless afterwards.
