57%.. while impressive for Pretoria, aint exactly a landslide victory. 43% of of Pretorians did not want Apartheid to end... and most of them found their way to this forum

Well done to the more liberal Cape Town, which had 85% of the voters voting against Apartheid. The other 15% [Paarl and nothern suburbs] also found their way to this forum and can be found trying to push for Cape Town becoming its own country.

7O% of white people voted yes. So.. whats that. 8O% english 2O% Afrikaans? It looks like the English towns have higher win margins I guess they had less to lose.

So it is just you and me who voted YES on this forum, the rest voted NO. Is that about correct?

English South Africans for the most part hated the Afrikaans administration and how it treated English people like second class white people people.

I have not met any liberals who supported Apartheid. Liberals are not the white people who stand at the braais going "those fking kfirs this" "those dking kfirs that" constantly. We are normally the ones who turn our heads away from you in shame and walk away in embarrassment.

There you go. You're biased. I'm neither English nor Afrikaans and from an objective POV I can see through the truth without emotional bias. I was never mistreated by either English or Afrikaaners. I do also see how your major issue is with the fact that 'your' people were not visibly in charge and how you perceive yourselves as the victims after losing the colony. I will tell you again, Afrikaaners for the most part, treated other 'Europeans' well. Secondly, from what I remember, EVERYBODY went about their daily lives and neither English speakers nor Afrikaaners were more pro-Apartheid or against it. We must have lived in different countries or maybe that chip on your shoulder is affecting your point of view.

The only memory I have of someone referring to blacks with the K word comes from my primary school where the two guys who spoke that way were decisively English speakers with English surnames. I studied in Stellenbosh and have never heard a student ever, refer to a black person with the k word.

I think we need to say that using a 'k' word at a braai does not make you any more sinister than someone who does not use it but still has a lowly opinion of black people (eg all Nigerians are criminals). That's why the DA nowadays doesn't have mass popularity amongst the blacks.

Never that I could remember. It wasn't pervasive in my course at least. As said, maybe some people used it in private but while ikey bashing did occur, black bashing didn't. I even knew a few 'Conservative' members of the staff at professorial around 1994 and we had long discussions on politics, but I never heard one of these people use the k word either.

Of course they are not all stupid, I mean, they voted the Republicans outta powers, but theyre not all that smart. Expect China to over take them in the brains department real soon. The majority of Americans are not conservatives, most of them are liberal and apathetic, but everyone knows the backwards superstitious rural support base is the loudest and dirtiest. It takes a hellavalot lot to get liberals to unite and get rid of trash... it only took 8 years of Bush before America said "fk this ****! we need a black dude!"

Majority of Americans are what one could call centre right - whites at least. They're not Bible thumpers but they're not what you think they are. Definitely they're pro small government - most of them. The reason why USA is great, is partly because of Republican like policies and unadulterated Capitalism.

China was always a great country. China however has other issues. You need to read up more about China as you don't know enough.

Exactly. The one's not better than the other. However, many people now chose to beat their chests and say how they were against it all and blame it all on Afrikaaner bogeymen.

That's why I used the word "had". The Afrikaners didn't go on about how bad the English treated them. They got up, and tried to better their lives. Afrikaners could easily have called for Britain to apologize or stand trail in an international court for all the suffering they inflicted, but that never happened.
