black suffering is hardly comparable to the first real war crimes and genocide, it does give you that sense of pride every time there is a documentary on it or once you hear it again

South Africa was a colony first, then it became a Republic (under an Afrikaaner dominated government).

America was a Colony until their War of Independence against Britain.

I was refering to some people who may have been upset that the Union of South Africa was no longer a British Colony and a member of the Commonwealth, as it was the early 20th century.

Technically, the boers started the war.
Technically, they didn't kill the women or children. Disease did, it also killed far more British soldiers than the boers did. Are you going to accuse them of committing genocide against otheir own soldiers who were apparently committing genocide? Cause that kinda rights a wrong. If you aren't, then there was no genocide, as genocide is intentional by definition.

Well, that's like Declaring war, and then blaming the British for fighting.

If you don't want to have to deal with the conditions of war don't declare it. If you want to implement gorilla warfare then expect those tactics to be used against you.

The Brits were happy to fight the war using classic battlefield tactics, the boers weren't.
