Indeed, and most cattle are kept in herds so if you have an infectious something then it needs to be addressed quickly before it spreads through the herd.

Small holdings sure they free roam, diff story on "factory farming"

They add it to the feed, so not like the farmer goes out and buy liters of it to pump into the chickens. They just buy feed that already have it mixed in ;)

They do, but it's also not cheap. I see the FDA stepped in apparently they now need a prescription, which makes more sense.

Once again there is a cost involved and it's not done for bragging rights.
Since you bring up chickens, Newcastle disease can wipe out entire flocks.
 
Perhaps his movement should be restricted and his employment terminated. There are a number of posts here where he encourages just that. Goose, gander thing still acceptable?

I know there is cost involved and as you point out there also a risk but we digress so back to topic on hand.

All I am trying to say is that some people take it as a precursor not only as a treatment. <-- bad practice.

Humans taking antibiotics as a precursor being bad practice, I fully agree.

Once again you're generalizing without any idea what you're talking about.
No farmer with a few million rand invested in livestock just goes and buys a bunch of medicine form the co-op.
They have a vet visit and the vet tells them what to do.
You **** up with one animal and it can wipe your entire herd.
