Suarez and Evra Thread.

Exactly what you posted, my post touched on the fact that Ferdinand - at the time not log a complaint that Terry called him a B**** C*** but someone else in the crowd logged the complaint with the police...

In the case of Evra -> Suarez, Evra went to the linesmen and filed a complaint

Okay, so it was not a direct complaint from Anton. Still, he feels he was abused. And it it also doe not mean that the FA should not act. They are the umbrella organisation, so whether a player or fan complains, they need to look into it.

This will make the FAs verdict difficult and it is going to be interesting. If they follow the court ruling and say not guilty, this throws questions over the Suarez-Evra case, source of the complaint aside as it is still an FA matter. If they say guilty, the court system is going to be thrown into doubt.

One does not necessarily affect the other.

Difference is the FA can only charge Terry for verbally abusing another player... they can't charge Terry for Racist comment cos there was no complaint of Racism was raised...
so your argument that if FA had to charge Terry would never arise

I think it does. This has opened the racism in football debate in the UK. Many retired black footballers that played in the 80s (the height of racism in English football) are disturbed by the court ruling and it can affect the FAs judgements. Someone is going to look stupid if two different rulings are made.

Weak argument. It is clear a racial slur was used, whether by Terry first or as a reaction by Terry to Ferdinand's comment, and so the FA should look into it regardless. It is the FAs job to ensure the players, administrators and officials conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. If you bother reading English papers you will see it has opened a whole can of worms with retired black footballers saying English football will degenerate into the dark days of the 80s when racial abuse was rampant.

It doesn't. They are separate. It does not matter what the FA decides, it doesn't affect the court decision at all, certainly not legally.

The FA are being made to look like twats.....

Is it okay to be deemed racist when you insult somebody in Spanish in England , yet when the insult is in English then it's just a misunderstanding ....... ?

Double standards.

No.

If John Terry had been tried by the FA and then come up not guilty then you can scream double standards.

Criminal court is not the same as the FA court.

Double standards as to how racism is handled in the UK.

Both were " footballing incidents ". Both happened on the field.

Terry is not guilty, no complaint of racism was raised to the FA by any of the players/official involved. Ferdinand does not believe a racial slur was used
Case closed.

Don't pretend you'd give a toss if Suarez wasn't a Pool player. In every separate case there are differences. Time for you and Suarez to get over it.

Good grief! Terry has admitted to using racist words. In what manner it is unclear, but he said what he has been accused of saying. And it was in English, so no questions about what was said unlike the Suarez-Evra debacle that was in Spanish.

You're basically implying that the FA should just bury its head in the sand. If nobody alerts it to anything they should just ignore it. Yeah, really effective governance that is.

Rio is upset and has come forward and said there is simply no way to ignore what Terry had said because it is in plain English for all to see. Anton has been mostly quiet outside of the court room but his manager has stated that the court case left him traumatised and that the court verdict left him uneasy.

I suggest you read a British paper to see the backlash this can and is causing.

Agreed.

Reading is not that difficult for the logical minded.

This aint about Suarez or Terry but rather the manner in which both incidents were handled.

Some folks need to grow the Fsk up and get out the closet.

No one is disagreeing. We're saying that this is the way that things are being handled. Afaik the FA is still looking into whether to proceed.

For the record, I think they should.

Your initial post is comparing Terry's Trial to Saurez's ban by FA

There is no double standards - as everyone said FA vs Court are two different entities.

Case closed

Now you changing your argument and saying the FA is NOT doing anything - there's no evidence suggesting that they are or are not doing anything.

Yes Terry testified that he did use a racial word so now the ball is in the FA's hands
