This is quite a delicate topic I'm sure but:

I find it incredibly annoying the submissiveness that black people tend to show towards white people, I really find it totally uneccesary.

This whole "madam" business and the bending over and saying sorry all the time really gets on my nerves.

Black people are equal to white people and they should not make like they are not. They are just promoting racism, they should be proud and look you in the eye as your equal.

I hope this thread isn't regarded as racist as that was not the intent at all. Has anyone noticed this at all, and also why is it that people are like this?

Agreed, but hey, in my opinion 15 years is peanuts in this specific situation.

A lot of that has given way to "I can do what I like now that apartheid has gone" arrogance, especially from the young.

Yup another generation of 2 and it will gone.

I think the biggest problem is alot of people treat blacks like they are not equal and until that changes the submissive nature's will stick around for a long time. Sackboy your confusing arrogance with confidence because young black people think they can do this or that because apartheid is over and you know what they can bud. They can anything a white person can do now.

The sad thing is sackboy will bitch about blacks doing what they like but i will bet if he was old enough under apartheid he said nothing. The fact of the matter is that one SA will land a white hater for a president and zim2 will begin and this would have all started because white's looked down on the black and treated them poorly.

Sack the white's should be blamed for the countries current situation. Who knows what this country would be like if blacks where treated as equals from the start.

well seeing as its not a rascist issue or topic. i think its also disgusting how some black men talk to coloured women as if the coloured women are beneath them and i also how some coloured people talk to their own colour as if they are are better than you are.

Wayne dude this whole racial thing was started by the whites. The sad thing is all the whites are bitching about the country now but say nothing when someone mentions it is the white who are to blame for the current situation.

Actually the whites can be farking lucky to still live so well, i know if i was mandela i may not have come out with peace in mind. I know for sure whites would be suffering i was in mandela's shoes and lets be honest whites are not struggling nearly as badly as the blacks.

I've met plenty of black people with a very hauteur attitude.

A couple of years ago I knocked on someone's door. This black man opened and I introduced myself. First thing he said was, his name was so and so and he works for the RULING party ... the ANC!

I were like, well good for you.

i realise that so its acceptable for people to treat each other like what i said because the whites made them they way they are?

i know some coloured people will say they lived better under apartheid then the way they are living today.

As far as I am concerned it all boils down to respect, Whether its just for your money or true respect is another question!

It's not acceptable to some people but others look at what has happened and how their parents have brought them up and it happens.

Hatred is not something that goes away, families keep it going that is why it will be near impossible to get rid of racism, until the grand parents and parents die and hopefully the kids have not listened, only then will racism go away.

What are you getting at? This is too vague to make heads or tails of, please explain...

To be honest, I only encounter this "boss this" and "boss that" attitude when something (money) is wanted. And yes, it really gets on my t!ts because it feels like that's what they think I want to be called. Like if I'm made to feel superior I may just throw bone to the dogs.

I've said before not to call me 'baas' because it aint going to get you anywhere with me, buddy so you may as well give it up.

You misunderstand.
It's a chip on the shoulder thing. It has nothing to do with what a white person could do. It's an 'I can get my own way because I was once downtrodden' attitude. IMHO it's also responsible for how our politicians behave.

Don't assume anything about my politics during or after apartheid. That's also one of the hallmarks I've noticed of today's black generation.

If you believe anything the government says, we are all the same and you cannot make sweeping statements about who is to blame based on their skin colour.

Maybe.
I see it as - once upon a time, the more you cow-towed and said "baas", the more change you had flung into your hands. No matter what you really thought.

@killadoob

I'm going to say something a bit controversial now, but I think that every nation on this planet has racism built-in. It happens in the remotest parts of Africa and it happens in big cities all over the world. I don't believe for one moment that any one race is less racist than the other. Is it wrong? Hell yes! There are lots of things that are wrong in society.

I just wish that other races would start admitting that they are also racist. I don't fall for the submissive attitude. Baas this and baas that..... What do those very same "submissive" people discuss in the privacy of their own homes?

um, 1stly, the only black person to have called me "boss" is my gardener... it's sorta of a sing of respect. My maid calls me master, which just shows she's is employed by me, and a level of respect is needed... So if you a boss of a large firm, and you call up a guy who works in a cubical, would you want him to say "good morning sir" or "Yo, whats up dude?"

I simply can't see why this is getting debated?
