I normally get acute gout in my left big toe... two weeks ago I played a T20 cricket game and damaged said toe's nail. Currently maxing out on Dichloflam dosage!

I hope not for his sake. My sister had this op about 2 or 3 months ago on her foot and is still recovering from it. It can take up to 6 months for some people for all the pain to go away. Some end up with permanent nerve pain after the op apparently.

yes it's called RSD. i have it after having carpel tunnel op in both hands done. not fun at all.

yes - i'm so used to calling it RSD now that i just say it as RSD.

The symptoms also sound a little bit like Plantar Fasciitis, which is inflammation of the muscle that runs underneath the foot from heel to ball. I suffered from this for quite a while and it also came on suddenly and also experienced pain putting weight on certain parts of the foot but not others. Best is just to go visit your GP and mention both gout and plantar faciitis. But as per RiaX, gout does seem likely. FYI

Here is another test, drink lots of red wine, eat a ton of red meat, if you want to die from pain the next day most probably gout (keep the hacksaw handy, just in case)

Oh and just a note...perhaps a bit off topic....but might scare someone into having something like this sorted out ASAP. After this op my sister when to a physio as her foot was cramping up badly. The physio helped her sort it out and gave excersizes...but the scary thing is that the noticed my sisters pelvis or something have gone out of allignment or something and her posture have gone all wonky. She also asked my sister if she have been experiencing bad neck pain on the opposite side from the foot that was operated on? And yes...she have been suffering badly but just thought it was stress related. It is amazing what else can go wrong with your body when are comprosing for a foot you cant walk on properly. So rather sooner than later to have things like this sorted hey.
