I am suffering from coccyx pain from last 1 1/2 year, not able to sit , it is a pain at the end of the spinal cord due to swelling. it got started during my pregnancy. Have took lot of treatment. after taking treatment i feel better for some days again it will start. I don't want to take again any medicine. Do anybody know home remedy or any exercise to get rid of this pain.

Um, maybe you should consult a doctor for bones and what not... Like you should be taking pain meds, but if you have to, then you have to.

Like I really don't think there's any home treatments apart from sitting on a doughnut type thing.

To relieve pain:

Lie on your back and rest your legs up against a wall at an angle that relieves the pressure.
Lie on your back and slowly move your knees towards your chin.

Longer term care:
Do not sit for extended periods of time.
Do not wear flat shoes with no heel or shoes with high heels.
Wear healthy shoes with a natural arch.
Dance or walk for exercise and to strengthen and make fit your supporting lower back muscles.
If you are too weighty - lose some weight.

Tips:
Make sure your pc chair gives support to your lower back
Make sure your pc sitting position relative to your screen heights are correct
Rest your arms from elbows on desk when typing for extended periods

Sleeping:
When sleeping on your side, sleep with a pillow between your legs to support your lower back and keep it in a good resting position, you can tuck a pillow behind your hips as well, if you sleep mostly facing one direction.

Best of wishes, I hope these tips help, Ibuprofen will provide temp relief, so will soaking in a hot bath.

Hey, really interesting to read - I went through a stage where I had the same, except mine appeared to be related to the ligaments, not the bone itself. It was sore to use my butt (stand, sit, etc). Sometimes it would spasm totally and that was excruciating. Taking meds is not ideal, I wish I had some advice to offer, I think mine related to heavy weight bearing exersice, but I imagine it could be caused by anything. Perhaps try some stretch related exersice and use an exersice ball for sitting instead of a chair. I'd say something like pilates. Ultimately it may be best to see a specialist. Definitely worth the money.

My brother fell out of a helicopter during training and broke his coccyx.

All he did was sit and play WoW for a few weeks. Also had physio etc.

Hes fine now.

But what you need to do is go see a doctor.

And you learnt to stop receiving from behind:twisted:

I actually watched something like this on tv...basically they said it could be countless things so go see a doc.

Try to identify the cause first before trying generic things that help with pain

No, it was regular exercise, not my telkom bill.

Wow! (the exclamation ... not the game)
That is a great prescription. I wish I could get a doctor's prescription like that.

Had the same episode with my ex.

Coccyx pain is referred to medically as coccydynia. Coccydynia is often associated with falling on your behind or other events such as giving birth, but in many cases there are no obvious reasons. My ex got hers cured with the help of a chiropractor (that's how i came to know a little about it).

She experienced great relieve right from the first visit and had a total of four sessions. However, not all cases can be solved in this way, so the chiro will give you a thorough examination first to determine if he can help or not. He might ask for x-rays of that area in a standing and a sitting position to see if your coccyx moves more than normal when you sit down.

If you can be treated and it is successful, all is not done yet. For a long time afterward you'll have to be very careful what you do! He might also give you exercises to strengthen certain muscles.

Just thought I'd give you another option to consider. Hope you get your problem sorted (whatever you do)!

I was thinking chiro too - i'm just too scared to mention them lol...

Why? This is one of the few situations in which a chiro might actually be able to help.

Well you summed it up... one of the few. I have just seen people go to the chiro then somehow have to keep going back.

Visits to the chiro probably cause longterm damage. I can't imagine that forcefully rearranging bones is a healthy practice to engage in every single day. In general I'm against chiros. However operations to reduce back pain involving the spine don't have a great success rate. It is one of the areas that we really do need to improve on. For that sort of thing if you can get relief from a chiro without needing to go under the knife then great. Surgery really should be a last resort unless it is something routine.

Do anybody know home remedy or any exercise to get rid of this pain.

The Doctors covered something today that you might find useful as it deals with Sacrum pain which is very close to you coccyx and stabilises your pelvis so it has muscles and tendons and could cause severe pain in some people.

They recommended a product for it called a SacroWedgy. There are more videos on Youtube as well.

The Doctors show synopsis for this episode can be seen here http://www.thedoctorstv.com/main/show_synopsis/678?section=synopsis right at the bottom and it was also right at the end of the episode.
The video for this particular part can be seen on The Doctors website here http://www.thedoctorstv.com/videolib/init/3517

SacroWedgy! HA HA HA HA HA
That's funny.... thanks for the link btw.

I have had more success with my chiro than with physio.
I have had extreme lower back issues from squash for many years. I have been to multiple physios who are ridiculously expensive and didnt help at all. The only reason i felt better, is because during physio times i stopped playing squash.

My chiro sorts out the issue in 2 sessions, I usually go annually or there abouts. He also recommended a new bed (and type) which has completely sorted out my issues.

I suppose each to their own, but a good chiro for me outweighs physio anyday

So according to you if i go once then i have to go on spending money, thanks for the suggestion and i don't want to go again and again since i visited so many Dr. and tired of taking medicine and spending lot of money. I am doing some exercise and yoga but some time pain will be less some time more, hope will get some permanent remedy.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
