Suggest a good provided VPS Hosting

Hi Everybody,
I'm looking for good provided VPS hosing in South Africa or outside so please suggest to me
 
I started using these guys:
www.contabo.com
They are Germany based. Pretty cheap and you get fairly powerful vps.

My current config:

Win 2008 Standard 64-bit server.
2 x CPU @ 3.4 GHZ
6 GB Ram
500 GB storage
100 GB backup space over SFTP / FTP

Unlimited traffic.

First month rental plus setup fee was R465.
Monthly cost is R 250.

Does depend what you need the VPS for. I use it for several users around the country to work on a single application via rdesktop.

anyone try contabo.com they have good offer but what about support etc..
 
ill second Host1Plus & elitehost but for a vps definitely Host1plus
 
I tried host1plus, digitalocean and also tried oceanhost. All good I say.
Host1plus vps is SA based and really cheap so a plus.
Digitalocean performance is better compared to host1plus.
Oceanhost performance is outstanding but double the cost but better network performance also.

I have 1 x host1plus and 3 x digitalocean vps.

Price is dirt cheap.

How many months you currently have the service for?
 
24 EUR for a 6 core i7 and 30GB Ram server..... Either SA is overpriced beyond measure or contabo.com is slacking somewhere else. They can't offer that sort of hardware for that price without some fcked up catch somewhere.... Can they?

Wow... 8 euro for all that! Wow... thats cheap.

Not really... You can get better value at lowendbox.com if you look around.

I'd rather get a dedi from someone like Kimsufi.com for the money and know that i'm getting the resources I pay for. Lots of VPS's are oversold etc. That or online.net also do cheap dedi's.

Hetzner do similar in their server auctions and thats with your own DEDI - not a ****ty VPS. You can then load Proxmox, buy more IP's and run multiple VM's on your host.

If you're outside the EU you also don't pay VAT so the price drops further ;)

Did look around could find nothing that gave me 6 cores, 6GB of ram and 500GB disk space in that price range (8 euro). The disk space is important to me as I would use these servers as backup servers. These are ideal for that.

Kimsufi are part of OVH but do not have the same levels of support at OVH. We thought of putting a box there, but that place is better if you dont need support. If you are getting one of these cheap vps`s its pretty much up there in reliability with getting a cheap server from Kimsufi.

EDIT: Also they only offer 2x cores for 8EU, not SIX.

You can dream all you want. You will never get the full 6 cores on a shared VPS environment. It's a pure MARKETING gimmick.

In fact most providers will throttle you or reboot your machine for abusive cores. I still say for those spec's get a dedi - you actually get what you pay for.

If I wanted similar specs for backup I'd do something like the below (note these aren't even offers, they're regular price - you could get for even less):

I dont care, I want that disk space :D All I need these vps`s are to run backups to. You not ganna easily beat 8 euro for 500GB or 14 euro for 1000GB. That is AWESOME!

Can get 500GB for $7 or 1TB for $14 - cheaper with coupons and VPSDIME is solid, has 10 Gbit uplink AND offloaded MySQL :D
