I just would like to ask 8.ta very nicely if they cannot reserve one BTS for Malmesbury in the Western Cape.

Got so excited when I got home and saw full signal with my 8.ta modem still in my laptop, just to realize it's MTN roaming. *sniff*

Please 8.ta?

Very week signal in Fredman drive Sandton. Need more there.

Camps Bay. Have you got something against Camps bay? You have the whole of Cape Town covered except Camps Bay at least according to your pretty little map

And now everyone knows where you live?
As far as I'm aware its not unusual for a business to advertise its address...?;) Perhaps I'll be stalked by hordes of wealthy clients looking to spend some cash.

The reason I did that is the 8ta coverage map shows a dead spot of about a kilometer radius around my premises. Also, there seem to be invisible dead spots in the area, as a guy around the corner gets ZERO vodacom coverage, while I get good signal.

Does the 8ta 10 gig promotion only work on thier own network? I see they have a "National voice and data" coverage map, which shows 3G in my area, as well as an "8ta network" map, which shows me in a hole.

Went into the Telkom shop at Penford, Uitenhage to see if they could give me an idea of how long it would be till there is coverage. They checked thier own maps and there is. Yay. No more paying for an unused telephone line for me.:)

:( Thought it was too good to be true... Went to sign up today and found that the lady Who yesterday told me I had 3G coverage was looking at the National voice and data map on the 8ta site. She didn't even know there was another map. I didn't have the energy for a tantrum, so I just asked for a prepaid sim so I can keep checking for myself until there's coverage. Yes, you guessed it, they have no sim cards.

Grr.

If you come to PE, come and get one from me... I have about 10 left in my office!

/yes, I know you are in Uitenhage...

Yes, that's me. I get 1 to 2 bars EDGE (!) on Vodacom, and no love from 8ta... leaves me with MTN or MTN.

What is the difference between 8ta network and MTN roaming? Is it the speed or something else?

8ta have a roaming agreement with MTN for voice and 2G services only - no 3G.

8ta are busy rolling out their own 21mbps network. The i5 promotion only works on 8ta's own network.

Hope someone from 8ta reads this.

I live in Princess, Roodepoort and have very bad signal. My sim can now go onto the 8ta network.

Can anything be done to improve the signal strength there?

Or should I give up and sign a 24month with MTN because they have superb coverage here?

P.S. I see on your i5 map that Princess is actually not really covered, by and large.
