I owned a Jazz CVT for twelve years and did 167,000km.
For the application as stated by the OP it's perfect.
Many reviews bitch about the 'slipping clutch' effect when you floor the accelerator but this can be remarkably lessened if you do a bit of manual shifting and juggle the accelerator pedal.
I've never owned a CVT just test drove one. I don't know what the fuss is about. There was the "humming noise" but you probably get used to that fairly quickly.
