THE LATEST VERSION of Office for Mac has been long awaited by Apple users. Not least because it's the first version that runs properly on the Intel chips that power all modern Apple computers. While it doesn't launch as fast as I'd like - even with plenty memory on the machine - it's a much better user experience than before.

Well since there are so few comments.

It's Microsoft Office for Mac now running 64bit and works faster than the old version obviously with all the new formats. So in a nutshell, "its an upgrade only"

I don't think much more needs to be said

Mail.app is the Mac email client. Personally I cant stand entourage but I havent even bothered getting the cheapo Student/Teacher Edition this time around so it might have improved.

The really big news from a developer's perspective is that they've dropped VBA scripting support thereby killing all corporate apps that still managed to work cross-platform between Win and OSX clients...
And it has been strongly rumoured that the same is going to happen to Win Office in the next release - a true boondoggle for Office developers converting all those VBA apps to ActionScript (for OSX) and .NET (for Win) and having to maintain two codebases for each app...
