Summer Transfers

SWP only struggled at Chelsea cos he was benched most of the time.

In my opinion:

SWP
Petrov

Will most definately make it in a top 4 team. Petrov especially was superb last season.

Chelsea kept Malouda instead of SWP. He runs around a lot, causes trouble but has no end product. He can't even get into the England squad. He'd make a good squad player but nothing more. Petrov could make it. Worried about his work rate and mentality though

Players for me in the City lineup who stand out and can ''survive'' in the top 4.

Robinho obviously yes
Richards Not on current form. Maybe one for the future but up there with Carra, Agger, Ferdinand, Vidic, Carvalho, Terri.... not IMO
Elano Not quite. Gerrard, Alonso, Fabrigas, Scholes, Lampard, Ballack are a class above
Benjani ROFL nowhere close
Ireland Had a great season so far but before that was nowhere.
(Joe Hart) Again maybe in the future but better than the Reina, Czech or even Almunia?

Thats 11 - 8 = 3. :D

So buy 1 or 2 superstars, then it will look like an amazing lineup.

lol would be fighting it out for 4th with Arsenal and Aston Villa. :p

11 - 4 = 7. 7 it is then :p:D

Seriously though only Robinho is up to the standard of the top 4 teams talismen.

The other 3 would struggle to make it as a top 4 team regular. SWP has failed already at Chelsea. Also you've only mentioned wingers. What about the rest of the Man City team. Could any of them make it into a top 4 starting 11. I don't think so
I agree.

My point is, that lineup isnt exactly filled with poor players. I forgot to add Jo in that lineup as well.

You dont need a team of superstars to break into the top 4. If they were to buy 2 or 3 superstars of Robinho's quality, they could do more than just break into the top 4. They would challenge for the title.

Keane Resigns From Sunderland Post

According to reports in the Independent, Roy Keane has parted company with Sunderland AFC. The Black Cats' squad are understood to have been briefed on the situation this morning....

Amazing. After all the success and then money spent who would have thought he would be gone already. Sure they've had a real bad run but managers have survived worse

Some Keane quotes

ON DEALING WITH CRITICISM FROM SUPPORTERS...
"I don't always agree but a lot of time fans are spot on. Sometimes we get nasty letters. Sue in the office, well I don't think she shows me many, just the odd one when she thinks I should know what is going on. She gave me one last week. This man was having a go at the way we played (pause). So I rang him up and we had a chat."

"Footballers are a strange breed these days, trust me. I thought I was strange."

ON JACK WARNER, THE BOSS OF THE TRINIDAD & TOBAGO FOOTBALL FEDERATION...
"The man's a clown. He sent me a letter and he was quite happy to give it to the media. I spoke to him on Wednesday and I told him what I thought about him and where I think he should go. He is writing these letters and it is always under the Fifa heading just to impress everybody. If he is vice president of Fifa, then God help us.

"People worry about the game and agents and directors of football and managers losing their jobs - we should be worried about people like him."

I wanted to do an Eric Cantona loads of times. I wanted to do it everywhere."

Can't believe what I'm about to say but I'll miss the guy :o

I'll Leave Arsenal - Fabregas

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has reiterated his desire to move away from the club and back to Spain upon completion of the terms of his current contract.

Fabregas still has six years to run on his current Gunners deal, having signed a long-term agreement in October 2006.

However, the Barcelona-schooled 21-year-old admits that he still harbours a long-term ambition to feature in La Liga.

The Euro 2008 winner conceded in the interview with Radio Marca that not even his place in the Arsenal line-up can be guaranteed, but affirmed that he is still happy and motivated at the Emirates.

Fabregas was handed the captaincy last month after manager Arsene Wenger stripped it from William Gallas, and the midfielder admits that the responsibility has had an effect on his game.

Nevertheless, Fabregas stated that it is a question of 'when' rather than 'if' he returns to ply his trade on the Iberian peninsula.

He told Radio Marca: "The idea has always been the same. That's why I signed such a long contract.

"What happens is that nobody in football has guaranteed place anywhere. Today everything is so changeable, so complicated that you never know, but the truth is that I'm very happy, very motivated and being captain is an extra incentive.

"Everybody knows that one day I would return to Spanish football. It's an experience I want to live. I want to play in Spain as a professional."

Read that today, i think he will. Must be frustrating knowing that u probably wont win anything this season.

I still think they made him captain just so he wouldnt want to leave come the next transfer window.
As before he was made captain their was a lot of talk of him leaving, now he says his leaving but only after his contract.

Ajax Set To Make Loan Move For Barcelona's Bojan - Reports

Man he would become beyond Godlike at Ajax. They have a knack for grooming youngsters... especially attacking talent. It would be great to see him go the way of Cruyff, Van Basten and Bergkamp...

English Women Don't Wash Their Genitalia - Napoli President

Napoli have been one of the revelations of the Serie A season and, with just one round to go until the winter break, they currently find themselves in joint-third position, nine points behind leaders Inter, and just three adrift of second-placed Juventus.

The Partenopei have an exciting young team, with Ezequiel Lavezzi (23), Marek Hamsik (21), Walter Gargano (24) and Fabiano Santacroce (22) all tipped to achieve great things in the game.

The quartet have all been reportedly lined up by some giants of the English Premier League, with Chelsea said to be desperate to land both Lavezzi and Hamsik, having had a big-money bid for the latter rejected towards the end of last season.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, having grown frustrated by the constant transfer speculation, has now issued a sensational declaration as to why the four youngsters should reject moves to England.

"We made these players — two years ago nobody knew who they were," roared the movie mogul.

"If they want to go to England then in the end they're going to go, but they need to understand this: the English live badly, eat badly and their women do not wash their genitalia. To them, a bidet is a mystery."

De Laurentiis' comments will not go down too well in England, and it is unlikely Keira Knightley or Dame Helen Mirren will be auditioning to star in his next movie.

Portsmouth Agree Sale Of Lassana Diarra To Real Madrid

Portsmouth and Real Madrid have agreed a transfer fee to take Lassana Diarra from Fratton Park to the Bernabeu, but the amount differs according to the source.

According to The Sun, Pompey are set to receive £24 million (€26.7 million), while the Daily Mail reports that Los Blancos will part with £18 million (€20 million).

Either way, the south-coast club are set to make a tidy profit on the £5.5 million (€6.1 million) paid to Arsenal to sign the midfielder last January.

It is thought that Los Merengues will officially announce the deal within the next 48 hours and that the French international, who can also fill in at right-back, will complete the switch on January 2.

A delighted Juande Ramos, the Real Madrid head coach, is quoted as saying: "The big players are already in the Champions League and cannot be signed.

"Diarra is a player I know well and I would like a player like him here."

The news comes as a blow to the transfer plans of English duo Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, the former in particular as it is believed they were willing to offer more money to sign the 23-year-old.

I doubt that they got more than 12 Million Pounds for Diarra.
Quality player though, but his attitude sucks.
