Sun Microsystems unveils StarOffice 9

<off-topic>
I've found that OpenOffice3 is faster than Office2007 - and I use OO more than M$ Office...
</off-topic>

StarOffice is also a nice Office suite, I've used version 5.x on OS/2 and it's great to use. No doubt there's more functionality in the newer version.

For large corporations it pays to use StarOffice (paid support) rather than OpenOffice - but home offices and small companies can use OpenOffice just as well although they will have to turn to the Internet for support.

So far I haven't encountered any serious issues or problems to warrant a Google.

Companies using Office2003 will find it easier to switch over to StarOffice or OpenOffice as the programs are almost identical, rather than trying to upgrade to a bloated Office2007 with a totally different layout.

Think M$ realised there mistake as the Mac Office 08 layout is so much similar to 2003. But that said I am using OO3 anyway.

Running Ubuntu 8.10 and downloaded OO3 today just to find that each and every package installs with an error :( Still of OO2.4 now :(

Gonna quickly give SO9 a try :D

local linky for download? i want to test it.. Trying to get my parents to move to ubuntu rather than xp (they just keep on messing it up by clicking "yes" to anything that pops up from the internet!) heheh
