Can anyone please tell me where I can get a sunshine recorder?
I'm busy with calculations to turn my place completely off grid but am pretty isolated with lots of trees so would like to measure how much sunshine I get on my roof in a day.
Thanks

Looks like it's easier to monitor you roof for shade throughout the day and cut the trees that are in the way.

I have seen may solar tools being sold, not once have I come across a sunshine recorder, it must a highly specialized piece of equipment.

I agree with @thechamp but otherwise you could possibly use those day sensors in conjunction with some sort of smart device and measure its up time in something like homeassistant.

I don't know where, but you could build one very easily.

Get a small 3.3v solar panel and an arduino, hook up the output of the solar panel into the arduino's analog to digital port and program it to log the voltage at some time interval.

There are plenty on Durban beaches, they apply some lotion and then lie in the sun and...

The equipment that I was looking for is called a a Pyranometer. Not gonna happen, expensive.

You could always just build one from an arduino with a lux meter.
I dont even think it would be that difficult to do.
