Super Rugby 2017

Lions have not played a NZ team yet and I doubt they would wana. Hurricanes will run riot next week.

Bud, I'm not miserable nor bitter, we knew what the Stormers would do, choking in the playoffs as usual. Not ranting because they lost and slating the Lions as you have mentioned. Just saying the way things are atm. Lions should be beating an ordinary Sharks team with at least 15 points easily on their home ground. They almost lost and scraped through to the semis.

The Canes are a different animal and will run riot if you not on your game. Maybe the Lions did it on purpose and did not want to show their A-game to the Canes. We will see if the Lions can deal with the pressure when they play a NZ team next week.

You actually sound very bitter, maybe you need to chill out and don't take everything to heart before you get a heart attack or something. It's only sport and we all have different opinions and no need to slate anyone and get so personal.
 
With the Lions not having faced a New Zealand team so far in the competition, I wonder how good they really are. I'm feeling a bit worried about their chances against the Hurricanes.

The Lions aren't the side they were last year, without a doubt. I don't have any hope for the Lions tbh.

Then again, I am a Lions Supporter, which means I'm an eternal pessimist. :p
 
OT:

The New National Stadium being built in Japan to host the 2020 Olympics will be converted exclusively to host ball sports once the Olympics are concluded. In 2021 this may be the new JRFU’s home, since they don’t have one. This will make rugby more marketable in Japan (and Asia) which gives me the impression that SANZAAR might approach Japan as a partner in 2020/21 within the scope to expand Super Rugby as per plan.

In other news, rumour has it that the Rebels has seek participation in Japan’s Top League tier 1 division.

I disagree whole heartedly.

End of the day it's still rugby. It's an oval ball being kicked and ran all over the field. Sure play styles may vary, but not playing a NZ team is of no effect. I doubt the Lions have the guns to out play them. But it's not because of them not playing any NZ teams. We'll see on Saturday, the lions will probably surprise everyone including myself :p
 
What worries me most is the absence of Warren Whiteley. Not as a player but as a captain. Kriel is probably a better player, but Whiteley is a surpassingly good captain because he can turn 15 players into a team, and that's really the secret of the Lions' success.

Hurricanes did a lot of travel the last fortnight and playing at high altitute won't be easy.

Just one example: Jantjies generally has a very much better game when WW is captaining. Odd, inexplicable thing, but it can make a diffs.

Of course I'm backing my team. But it's gonna be harder.
 
Thinking of dropping a couple R 100s on the Lions for a win.

Just can't access the betting sites from work. Anyone got the Odds?
