Kubo unfortunately perpetuated the stereotype of New Zealand sides getting away with murder on their own line, as the Chiefs conceded nine penalties – several in their red zone – on defence and first received an explanation, then a warning and then a second warning in the second half without receiving a card.

The Chiefs were lucky to see a brilliant try disallowed by Handre Pollard for obstruction, when replays showed that it was unlikely that Brodie Retallick would get to a flying Warrick Gelant. Nevertheless, it was a hometown decision that seemed to take the wind out of the sails of the Bulls at a crucial time in the game.

The officials also were lenient with the Bulls, when Conraad van Vuuren hit Damian McKenzie late with a swinging arm to the head. While it looked like a certain red, the TMO downgraded it to a yellow, and saved Van Vuuren the ignominy of a disciplinary hearing afterwards.

In the end though the Bulls ran out of steam and were still in the game despite all of the above, until they conceded two late tries that saw the Chiefs pull away quite easily in the end.

he can still be cited and the yellow can be upgraded to a red, and obviously, be penalised (suspended).

Fitness is definitely an issue. They put a huge amount of effort into the first 40 but faded badly after that. When you tiring, effective defense becomes impossible.

Yeah, I thought the ref was alright but I really don't mind a ref who is reluctant to give cards!

I thought Papier's disallowed try was 50/50! Turning point in the match to some extent...

Bulls part ways with Rudy Paige

Pretoria - The Bulls have confirmed that they have parted ways with Springbok scrumhalf Rudy Paige.

Somewhat surprisingly, Paige was left out of new coach John Mitchell's squad for the Super Rugby season with some of the franchise's younger No 9 talents backed instead.

Then, on Thursday, it was confirmed that Paige would join the Cheetahs for three months and help them in their PRO 14 ventures.

Now, the Bulls have confirmed that he will not have a home at the Bulls once his stint with the Cheetahs comes to an end.

"The Blue Bulls Company and scrumhalf Rudy Paige have parted ways," a Bulls statement read.

If the coach doesn't identify the weak links and replace them now, I'll lose all hope that they know what the fark is going on. Everyone and their aunty can see the weakness, bloody well do your job and fix it at half time :mad:

Lol. Sharks oke penalized for pushing a player off the ball. I guess Glenn Jackson blinked when the Brumbies number 7 did the same
 
I give up on this team and coaching setup. Too many heartless players and way too many idiotic coaching calls. Thanks for the huge let down Sharks :(
 
Sad to see. Theyve definitely got the players but have gone backwards under dupreez. When you see what Mitchell has achieved in a relatively short space of time with a bunch of nobodies over at the Bulls, you realize the impact a decent coach can make.

Same story with Fleck over at the Stormers. Such a good side on paper but underperfoming on grass.

Agreed.
 
We tried to play rugby for all of 3 minutes (and lets not forget the Brumbies had two yellows). Another game partly destroyed trying to convert a player into a new position. The loose forwards after the Du Preez brothers and van der Walt are poor, and Ralepelle... How do we not utilise mapimpi better?

One week we appear to take a step forward only for the next to bring us back to reality.

The coaching needs to be seriously questioned. We should have improved after our off season signings.

The only chance of points on tour down the drain...
