Supersport streaming down?

Not mine. I found out that if I disconnect from my ISP - MWEB and use a "1GB free" account I got from Afrihost, the problem is gone. Mine is therefore clearly ISP related. Although I called their help desk every weekend for the past 4 weekends they ensured me that the problem is not on their side. Think I just proved the opposite. Only had good words for MWEB so far, but now I clearly am getting screwed on the uncapped 1MB line. :-(
 
Did supersport change the streaming to require a premium subscription now? I used to stream the rugby because I only have an EasyView subscription, and it worked flawlessly. But now streaming gives me that "You need to be DSTV subscriber" message.
Nowhere on their site can I find anything stating that you must have a premium subscription. It only says you need to be a registered DSTV subscriber. Even the error makes no mention of the package you need.

It used to work for me without any subscription at all.

Now I guess I will need to find a friend with a smartcard who doesn't use Supersport streaming.

Their support always tells me "you need to be a premium subscriber to view online streaming...".
 
I haven't had any problem streaming on supersport.
 
I'm a premium subscriber and I cant stream anymore. The videos just dont load, Ive had the issue for about a week now.
 
I think there is a seperate issue other than the smartcard number.

On my account on the supersport website, videos don't load, but instead of an error message, the player shows up with a empty loading bar, but never starts loading, so the video never starts playing.

Using the XBMC addon, the videos load and play just fine, although ofcoarse they get cut off cause the player doesn't authenticate to their new system.

So perhaps they updated the player, and now something is not loading the way it should, ie. something probably got cached somewhere and not the player is stuck in limbo.

Now that you mention it, I did have this issue over the weekend and I just left it. Is it still not working? Then it has to be an issue on their side. Someone ought to let them know :whistle:
 
OK. I figured out the problem with the live rugby broadcasts at last. It was my only problem. When live rugy is broadcasted I get long and frustrating buffering periods, making it virtually impossible to watch live rugby. I can go from the rugby to any other sport's live broadcast (same time) and the buffering stopped.

The final answer was that DSTV has changed the buffering size on the rugby broadcasts (you can not set it, they have to do it on their side). I escalated the problem and they promised to escalate it to "the relevant Department". So far, the current broadcast is running seamless. Thank you DSTV for listening!
