Surface Windows 8 Pro tablet pricing and launch date

At that price the least they could have done was fitted them with dedicated GPU's.

Hmmm it's $70 less than a 64GB iPad and when you consider the specs and capability compared to that device well then the pricing starts to look a whole lot more reasonable. I think it's great :D

You do realize it won't be that cheap right? Look at examples like that samsung slate they have at the store in vodaworld, its sells for R16000.

I suppose it will be slightly more expensive than a premium ultrabook.

We always get shafted in SA.

And everyone seems to forget.....NO OFFICE SUITE

After you add on the extra $100 for the keyboard, it'll be more expensive than an 11" MacBook Air! I know which one I'd prefer!

yeah, $899 sounds good, but it will only really have meaning when we see the Rand price locally
the Samsung tabs at IC go for about R18K which is way expensive, as are IC in general, but hoping the pricing will at least be inline with iPad4 pricing

Hahaha... Samsung is being referred to as "several others powered by the Google Android system". Unfortunately it doesn't have the apple logo on it, so I will not be interested! Windows 8 seems nice though.

You can't compare the specs to an iPad.
Surface Pro should be compared with UltraBooks - and at $899 for the 64GB unit + $100 for keyboard, for a device that is the minimum spec to run Windows 8.
Running Window 8 x64 on 4GB RAM is hardly fun.
On 64GB disk, once you've installed Windows 8 and Office 2013, you've used 32GB, leaving 32GB for data.

Here is a criticism to you MyBB.

This is actually not real news IMO. Surface Pro was expected at end January, now it is being released on 9 February. Wow. What an amazing turn of events.

If you scour the Internet you will find this sort of info in at least 25 articles.

Microsoft also said that the consumer-focused version of Surface released late last year here [in the USA] will soon be available in 13 new markets around the world.

It is information on the issue in the quote above that you should be actively searching for and not waiting for it to fall into your laps. Investigative journalism? Or perhaps it is not part of your strategy or is information on the said topic outside of your strategic jurisdiction?

It is sad to see how you have been brainwashed by Apple to this degree. Very sad.

Let me explain how this works:
This device runs on Windows and has a USB port. Therefore, you are free to plug in ANY keyboard and it will work on a plug and play basis. Same for a mouse, or Xbox controller or whatever else you want to plug into it. Sure if you want the keyboard cover thing that will cost, but that is no different to the $100 Apple keyboards so what exactly are you complaining about?

No it's a tablet and should be compared with tablets. Also Windows 8 runs just fine on 4GB RAM  I know because I am running it on 4GB RAM.

As for storage, you can so easily just plug a flash drive or external in. Not sure you can do that with your iPad... And remember this is a tablet after all and I don't see anyone up in arms about the rest of the 32GB tablets.
