Am I missing something here or are the dealers on Takealot out of their minds with their pricing? The same product is way cheaper elsewhere. And I doubt any of the people reviewing the product bought it at that price on Takealot.

I hear there is one that wait for a minute before it start up, after eg load shedding.
I had one of those, cuts off if the voltage is below a certain level.
It failed after about 2-3 years.
Can't say I would recommend it.

Have had my fridge surge protector for many years now. Fridge only comes on 5 minutes later. So the surges and on/off/on does not damage the compressor

Clearline. Was expensive but cheaper than replacing a fridge.

Possibly have to be with scarcity being exploited, but why not go with what I believe is a newer product sold by Incredible?

Those same surge protectors are really cheap at places like Pick n Pay, OK, etc.

All my important electronic things are on Clearline products, but they have become expensive.

Apologies if I am derailing this thread.

I have surge protection set up in my db board, think it's called a surge arrestor or something like that.

Think the current hits that first before entering the house and and a surge it picks up is sent via the earth outside the house only allowing the safe current to pass through.

Total cost was about R850 (R350 for arrestor + R500 for installation from qualified electrician).

Would you say that is adequate for protection from surges or should I get these plugs as well for additional protection?

Morning guys will this work to protect my fridge? Thx in advance

Prices are out of control because of load shedding. These suppliers know that any UPS and other forms of protection is a must have so they are trying to take advantage of that.

Ideas to protect large Kyocera copiers?

We thinking 3000va UPS or Mecer Inverter + Battery?

They do exactly that. It takes longer than a minute actually. My fridge takes a while before it switches back on.

surge arresters clamp at different voltages .some 275v some 600volt some virtually never unless a huge shunt .your incoming supply should have a permanent surge arrestor usually by Surgetek across mains .live and neutral and a pigtail to earth .heineman makes one that takes up a circuit breaker opening .all for different applications but they are not fool proof spikes still get through so individual protection is also recommended as well as sensitive stuff on a standalone small ups and a delay on fridges.gate motors and electric fences are very susceptible to static discharge from a lightning strike that cant be stopped easily .i wont install anything other than Surgetek .also bear in mind if your earth leakage suddenly starts tripping one of your small plug in units may be faulty .possibly after a shunt .

Just get the

Clearline Tripconnect 1P and protect your entire setup and not just one device. Fully programmable and does over and under voltage. The ellies is one or the other.
