Hi there

We upgraded to a DSTV explora and so have passed on or SD PVR decoder to the parents. They have an ancient Single View SD device.

Can I do this via selfservice.dstv.com? Do I just need to remove the device from my account and add the device to their account with its serial number, and pair their smartcard with the PVR device?

I'd appreciate any tips,
Thanks!

Sorry, I just realised I was unclear. My Explora is sorted.
I'm trying to swap the old Single View for the new SD PVR decoder. The Single view device is on their account with their smartcard.
The SD PVR and Explora are on our account. So I need to get the SD PVR paired with their smartcard.

Don't think DSTV will do the swop as the SD PVR is obsolete

As far as I know they won't allow you to transfer ownership of the SD PVR to another customer as of recently. Phone and confirm the above. If the above is true then get your parents to cancel their subscription and then you reactivate a separate subscription on your account for the SD PVR.

I am 80% sure of this. My explora is connected via extraview to my SD PVR. I confirmed this by going to Dstv.com and viewing my profile and the connected decoders. However neither my explora nor my SD PVR say anything about being connected to extraview when going into the Dstv menu actually my explora says "Ready but inactive." so I bet I can disconnect the SD PVR and exploras heartbeat cable and still receive full service on both decoders. This may work with you and hence your parents might not need to pay a subscription. Try it out. I pay the normal subscription plus HD/extraview fee. No billing errors whatsoever since installed.

Thanks for your input. I contacted DSTV via their forum and they said they would send me a change of ownership form a month ago. :(
