Switch 2 thread

Nintendo saying "fsck you" to all their non-Japanese customers.

The Japan-only Switch 2 was specifically created to be affordable, Nintendo said in a press release. Some speculate the product is meant to address a weak Yen, which has lost around 50% of its value against the US dollar over the past five years.

And so it's useless to you, it's region locked to Japanese accounts and language. Which is no biggie, I have a Japanese Nintendo account as well, but they're trying hard to give it to the fans.

I don't really see the big deal? Isn't Japan like their biggest market? And with a weak Yen, it makes sense they want to cater for their people. If they didn't region lock it, it would get scalped to **** for other countries

Essentially they're practicing chauvinism and they are using foreign customers to subsidize their local market which should not be rewarded. They can afford to produce the Switch2 at that price, hence they should also sell it abroad at that price.

They're ripping you off, if you buy a Switch2. You're paying so some Kenji or some Haruto can have a cheaper console, at your expense. I wouldn't reward that.

I think it's a valid stance to take when considering this thing, especially in this economic downturn and especially considering the pricing of their games.

I do business with some Japanese businesses and they sell me items at the same price, they sell to their local populace. Nintendo is not being fair here.

It's a free market.

Quote where I asked the regulators to step in.

This is an entertainment system. Unless you're a marxist or communist, what's the problem?

That doesn't even make sense.

If you want to reward companies who fsck you up your butt, go on and buy the Switch 2 and buy those premium games. Nobody is going to stop you.

Are you a Marxist because the last time I checked only Marxists blocked freedom of expression.

Look you're a FANBOI. Nobody is gonna stop you buying your overpriced android tablet.

I'll wait for other express SD cards that has no Mario on it

I see they are £50 on Amazon UK (R1250) which looks to be about the same price as non Nintendo cards such as SanDisk.

I booked my flights for 13th June back 25th so there’s that option if nothing better turns up here.

You even sound like Marx. Resorting to petty insults to get a point across.

You called me a Marxist chief. You have short memory.

You responded in a rude way to me: "Unless you're a marxist or communist, what's the problem?"

If you don’t care whether I buy a Switch 2 or not then why spew like a raving lunatic?

You're accusing me of the things you yourself perpetrated. You attacked me first. Me telling you that buying a Switch 2 is supporting Nintendo's BS, doesn't mean I'm controlling you. Last I checked, I didn't have the power to force you not to buy one. Goodness man, this is a forum,

Definition of forum:

a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.
"we hope these pages act as a forum for debate"

Have a good weekend.

Has anyone seen if save games of BOTW and TOTK can be exported to the Switch 2 to play on the upgraded game?

What's your favourite Switch game of each year? And which game or games are you waiting for on Switch 2?
What’s with the witness stand Q’s?

You always come across like a bit of a special case, not trying to be insulting mind you. Just calling it as I see it, feel free to disagree. Zero skin off my back.

We’ve had “beef” in the past I’m sure you’ll actually understand.

Normal question. I haven't used the Switch in a long time, but I played Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Animal Crossing. However the game I played the most was Valkyria Chronicles 4 and that's also the only game I completed including the DLC missions.
I purchased a bunch of other games I never got around to playing. Last time I gamed a bit on the Switch was maybe in 2023 for like half an hour.

Noted.

I don’t actually have a Switch, I’m more of an Xbox guy.

I’ve repeatedly said on this forum I like all things tech hence I participate in this thread.

To answer your Q I got some solid hands-on time with a buddy’s Switch & Super Mario Odyssey + Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which I obviously enjoyed.
