Sorry this is a very stupid question, but what is the official store to purchase from in SA? There is a nintendo.com/za style and a store.nintendo.co.za or something along those lines - the second has the products but looks like the site was built in 2007.
I need to give Xenoblade another try on the new Switch. Going to start 2 this evening.Dont blame you. No 2 was laggy as **** and had loads of slow down. Fixed if you now play on NS2
I'm blown away by the amount of abuse it took and still kept on truckingNSFW: the abuse is unreal in that video.
Edit: Anyone try Gamecube emulation? Are games played from a server or locally? CRT filters? Input lag?

That... that is mega impressive. Bad for the (financially challenged) gamers, good for the shareholders. Seems like $80 games are here to stay...
I just don't get this fascination with Nintendo. Never mind the switch 2...
3.5m people ready to drop a bunch of money for another Mario game.
You do realise only you read your wall of text? Why? Nobody else is here to listen to your rant.

I do play JRPGs, 1st ones I remember playing was on the PS1, FF7 and Legend of Dragoon.
The Switch exclusive JRPGs don't convince me to buy the system.
None of the Nintendo only titles are enough to make me buy it and I don't get why it does for others.
I have had a PC my entire life since but also had consoles, PS1, PS3, Xbox 360 and PS4 and Quest 2(Technically also a console)
Bought them because they had titles (many) I wanted to play. God of War, Halo, Killzone, Metal Gear titles for example.
Titles that were only available on their system. Bought a PS3 after seeing MGS4 trailer.
Now everything I see and desire to play is release on console and PC. So, I just play it on PC.
Can't say the same for Nintendo titles. I watch the trailers for them and none of them make me want to play them.
It's great that people enjoy it. Not hating on people for enjoying it.
Just saying, I just don't get it.
Spot on. And given it taps out on Cyberpunk (an optimised version mind you, specially written by CDPR) at 30-40fps - the new expansion runs at 30fps, it's not a console with much future proofing. Most games don't come on cartridge. You can't increase the size of the internal SSD the way you can with Windows or Steam based handhelds, where you can go up to 4TB PCI Gen4 speeds.
The Switch 2 on the other hand has an SD express card slot with speeds up to 1 GB/sec but it only comes with 256GB of internal storage and given most Switch 2 games come at 40-80GB it's going to fill up quickly. Also many Switch 2 games sold on the card, in physical format, don't include the actual game, but the code to download it from the Nintendo Eshop.
Nintendo also said they'd be increasing the prices of their games. They claim a high quality game like Mario Kart demands a $80 price tag.
As for JRPGs, they are available on all platforms. Sony has exclusives. Nintendo has exclusives. Sometimes IOS has exclusive JRPGs. And there are live service JRPG games which don't even run on the Steam 2 yet or maybe never will. Games popular with many JRPG fans such as Mirai Nikki or Genshin Impact (the better looking Zelda 2) have yet to launch on the Switch or Switch 2. For some reason many very popular Japanese games don't launch on Nintendo, eg Bandai Namco's IdolMaster games.
Nintendo does do one thing though, Sworaxe, they have less censorship. So there are a lot of cartoon boobie games on that, and maybe some people enjoy that although in some cases Western releases get censored. The Switch and likely Switch 2 is region free, so you can have accounts from multiple countries and enjoy eg Japan only releases. With say the Sony PS Vita one had to have a seperate PS Vita for Japan and one for the US or SA. With Switch you can 'switch' between accounts and some Asia (Hong Kong / Singapore) English games also exist which never make it to the West, those can be played that way.
I bought a Switch at its launch, haven't touched it in about 2 years. It's nice people have something to fawn over, good for them, but it's cool to also to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of every system.

LOL I responded to a guy. Why are you triggered?
Are people not allowed to share opinions here?
I've probably spent more money with Nintendo than you.
Yeah. Completely forgot about the cheaper JPN console. I think it might be in touching distance of ~2 million, as the initial number of ~950 000 excl. online retailers and the MyNintendo store sales. We have to see how many were Japanese consoles. Remember those are $100 cheaper i.e. subsidized by others. And Japan is limited, so we'll see how successful this console is.
Matt Piscatella also confirms that S2 week one sales > PS4 opening month sales.Nintendo Switch 2 set a new all-time launch week unit sales record for video game hardware in the US, with over 1.1 million units sold during the week ending June 7, 2025 (excludes sales from the My Nintendo Store). The record was previously held by PlayStation 4.
