I see that the networks will not be implementing MNP by 17 September and have once again asked for an extention.
I was about to cancel my contract with MTN and switch to CellC last year sometime, when I heard about MNP. I decided that it would be nice to keep my number, so I waited until December.
To my surprise, the networks could not implement it in time. I again decided that that I would wait until July and then switch to CellC. Once again they did not meet the deadline.
Then Virgin entered the market and I got myself a SIM card so that I could test their network before MNP kicks in. I was so excited as the networks lead us to believe that they were ready for MNP! Now I see that they are once again asking for a extention... this is unacceptable!
I have been staying with MTN for more than a year now because I am waiting for MNP. If I knew it was going to take this long, I would have cancelled my contract with MTN then and just sent everybody I know my new cellphone number.
I don't see why they are taking this long as there are many companies in other coutries doing the exact same thing. They could source the technology from them.
Please impose the penalties on them! This is the quickest way (and by the looks of things, the only way) that they will implement MNP!!
