Synchronised browsing

Just get opera 9.5 at www.opera.com. It's faster than firefox and more secure. And has a much better build in version of bookmark syncrionizing. It even syncs with opera mini. They even have a browser for the wii. Thus you can truly sync across box device from anywhere. I was a firefox man untill last year when i discovered opera. For me it's the best browser by a long way.

i just use FF and del.icio.us and can then add to and access my bookmarks either via FF, or via my Netvibes start page on any pc i'm at for that matter...

Firefox FTW +1

If you ain't using it yet.... you must prefer writing on clay tablets. :p

Unfortunately it can no longer claim that Title. Google it. Firefox 3 now outperforms Opera on speed and memory. :)

Nope. Opera is still faster but does use a bit more memory. But i never claimed better memory usage even if it's right up there.

I hate Opera. The only Opera I use is 8.5 on my smartphone. I prefer Firefox to Opera any day.

Is there a Firefox mobile? It would be cool :D

Nope you are ahead with Opera 9.5

I don't mind Opera... it's a nice little browser... and way better than IE. Anything that detracts from IE is good. But when Opera catches up with Firefox in the add-ons dept. (yeah right)... then I will start comparing it to Firefox. ;)

I use the del.icio.us plugin to sync my bookmarks.

Works pretty well :)

Yeah, I do this as well. Never got the point of del.icio.us until I discovered the FF plugin.

Now I have the same bookmarks across all 3 instances of FF that I run. Bliss.

I use Google Toolbar - it's had that centralised bookmarks things for ages, and has always been cross-browser. Also integrates nicely with gmail, etc. No matter what browser I'm using - IE or FF, first thing I do is install google toolbar, and lo and behold - search, spellcheck, mail notification, centralised bookmarks and popup blocking all there, plus I dont need to remember ANOTHER username/password - it's linked to your google account.

the thing with opera is that you have a greater chance of sites not working. that detracts from a browser in my opinion.

i ran opera during the beta stages and early into the finalised 9.50 and i still see on the my.opera.com site people complaining about not being able to access sites that IE and FF can access. And the answer from the community is always to point out the errors in the website. But ultimately I don't care about errors in how the website is setup if there are other browsers that can view the same site.

as for the speed issue. it is marginal at best. sometimes i would think FF is faster. Other times Opera. Which might also be a feather in FF's cap given that I typically run FF with a number extensions yet my Opera has no widgets.

This is on Linux so maybe the Windows experience differs.

You can't beat opera for out of the box performance let's face it. Standard opera vs standard firefox it's a no contest really opera wins hands down. Thus when firefox finally has opera's functionality with a lot of add-ons opera uses a lot less memory. And sites not working in opera is really few and far between these days. And i'll gladly not visit a site if it doesn't load in my browser to promote web standards. It's the sites lost not mine. There will be many other sites with the data i'm looking for. Most of the opera haters never tried it. But on the other side the majority of opera users first tried firefox and switched. But in the end everybody has their own choice since if something is perfect everybody would have used it.
