Tablet for Kids

Ok, maybe just get a phone then
This will do and you get the headphones :-)

Also now looking into tabs/phones for the kiddies come black friday.

Looking at the samsung tab A 8" or the Xiaomi redmi 9A or 9C perhaps?

They are roughly in the same price range with similar specs. The big trade off comes between an octocore cpu on the redmi compared to quad core on the SGT with the bigger screen.

Any ideas? I'm a little scared of the new dixon tablet but for the same price as above, you are getting a 10" true HD screen plus the octacore cpu...

Then there's also the TECLAST P20HD. Read about it on several posts here on MBB. (see https://www.gearbest.com/android-ta...d=1433363&_branch_match_id=854099823592176782). At 4GB ram and 64GB internal memory, 8 cores and dual sim, it almost seems to good to be true. I guess the risk is you have to order off gearbest, import taxes, couriers etc.

Can someone comment on google certification for the Dixon and Teclast tabs? Working DSTV now and netflix?

All of them tablets are rubbish if you want them to do anything besides watching videos.

That Dixon isn't bad, can play mine craft. The snag is it won't play Fortnite but not a lot of Chinese devices do

Suprised you didn't go with this

You wouldn't be surprised if you'd actually tried a book.
I did try one, but man when I rotated it the words stayed in the same orientation, touching the corners of the page didn't go to the next page, it was some archaic form of education.

Now where's that Swedish clip on the Introduction of the Book. A monk calls Tech Support. Good for a cackle, but can't immediately find and post from phone...

Edit: Here's a version:

Young kids. Yes. Minecraft yes! Too young for fortnite.

Ps. Why doesnt fortnite work though?

For what its worth, I bought an Alcatel 1T 7 this past weekend from Makro for my 2 year old daughter, seeing that she slammed the Chinese one we got from Takelot 2.5 months ago on the ground.

Specs:

I have to say, it performs much better than the one we initially got from Takealot. I just want to buy a 7" tempered glass protector this time round to prevent the same from happening to the new tablet. It runs Android 10 Go Edition, and has decent performance, especially if you're only interested in using it for YouTube mainly.

For some reason YouTube Kids doesn't want to work. It didn't work on the old tablet either, but I believe it some sort of compatibility issue perhaps of the app with the Go version of Android. Anyhow, not a complete train smash, everything else works as intended and for the price (R950 on promo, normally R999) I can recommend it as a decent, cheap alternative.

You think a thin sheet of glass will protect it from a two year old from slamming it on the ground.

Don't know, but doesn't work on my nieces Doogee, or my others Xiaomi, or my son's Huawei P20 lite, think it's only certain devices it supports.

I did some light research. It seems fortnite on andriod has some reasonably high system requirements. 64 bit arm processor, 4 gb ram, android 8+ and specific generation gpu's (or newer).

I guess most budget devices already miss the bus on the RAM.

Think it's the GPU as the P20 lite and p30 lite have 4gb ram or higher.
