Takealot downtime frustrates users

I think their advertising was too successful. It's not great when you pull first time visitors to your site that keeps crashing...

“Heavy traffic might cause some page loading issues. Please bear with us and continue to refresh in 30 seconds. Deals this hot are worth the wait,” Takealot said.

Won't this just compound the heavy traffic volume issue?

The quality of the deals is far more frustrating, several products are listed as on special at nearly 50% off until you take the time to look up the RRP and notice that the product is meant to sell for the "sale" price.

Just bought that Sammy bluray player for R499. I don't even own any blurays, but I have some DVD's that I can now watch again :D

You would think the fact that this happens EVERY time they have multiple promotions per day, e.g. last years' Black Friday, etc, they would have sorted something out by now to cater for the additional traffic.

Exactly.I get error messages on their web pages, on normal no-special days still.

I just checked my purchases from last year's Takealot Tuesday and I picked up an external HDD and a few blu-rays. Takealot either didn't participate in Black Friday or the specials were not worth buying.

I struggled for an hour to get an HDD added to my cart but their site went down before I could checkout. When the site became accessible again I was notified that the item was no longer available at that price.

I'm a bit p155ed off about this and sent them an email as requested by their support staff, so I'll see what they say...
