You would think the fact that this happens EVERY time they have multiple promotions per day, e.g. last years' Black Friday, etc, they would have sorted something out by now to cater for the additional traffic.
So you reckon they should rent ( or buy ) multiple expensive servers to cater for the load just for one day or maybe a few? Think WoW when the recent expansion was launched?
People need to get to grips with the fact that its now christmas time and everyone is looking at takealot for a deal... i think its unfair to expect them to invest in extra hardware when in the greater scheme its not really needed. A server can ONLY handle so many requests.
Edit: Go to a mall now and see how frustrated you get.. surely malls by now realise, that by this period, they need more space ( see what i did there? )
Except it's 2014 and things like Amazon EC2, Microsoft Azure and Cloudflare exist all to prevent this type of situation. You can't rent extra space in a mall by the hour but you can rent extra computing resources by the hour so your argument is flawed.
