Hi guys.

I bought some DDR3 that turns out to be incompatible with the target motherboard in the office (unless it is also DOA as I have no other DDR3 boards to test against). 4GB Patriot DDR1333 stick and I learn that it is not listed in the motherboard compatibility, 4GB are supported for 667MHZ sticks only :-(

I would like to exchange it for a 2GB Transcend which is installed in the motherboard.

I have read through takealots guide to exchanges and returns http://www.takealot.com/help/exchange-return-policy. In your experiences is it as smooth as that?

I've returned stuff on 2 occasions with them, and it is hardly an effort. Really good customer service. Just drop them an email.

They acknowledged my request on the 14th, sent a confirmation on the 20th that the replacement was ready, and delivered on the 23rd. The replacement and collection was all at their cost :) for my mistake. I wonder what happens to the opened package - not that I disturbed the sticker all that much but I would not want to buy a customer return as brand new.

Thanks Takealot.

It is actually easier than sending an email.

Just log on to the website, go to the order with the item you want to return. Click return item, new page will ask you to choose a category why, eg. broken or what not, and you can comment there. They arrange pickup and everything, even let you know how they handle it after testing (eg. with broken item). Ie. You can track the status of the item return on their website.

The only time that I have returned a product, I expected a replacement, but they gave me a credit instead. The product had meanwhile gone up in price so I lost out.

Yes, I know, it is against CPA, but it was not worth fighting. However, I will remember.

I just logged mine through the online portal.

They sent a replacement unit with the courier the next day and I gave them the faulty one and that was that.

Pretty painless.

Thanks Takealot.

Normally items that have been opened get sent back to the supplier/manufacturer and get repackaged as brand new after testing.

Anyone here has experience with Takealot returning a motherboard?

Long story short I ordered a special on a motherboard and CPU bundle,

http://www.takealot.com/asus-bundle...d-and-intel-core-i5-4460-process/PLID40687519

The issue that I had experienced when the system was assembled and tested was similar to this,

http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/boot-problem.199378/

In short, DIMM_B1 and DIMM_B2 is ‘Faulty’ on the motherboard I had received. The memory used was CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10 x 2 in DIMM_A2 and DIMM_B2, the motherboard can boot with memory in DIMM_A1 or DIMM_A2. Memory in DIMM_B1 and/or DIMM_B2 loops the power (shut down) or it simply will not boot.

All required tests was done so no need to get creative in this thread.

Since this is an order which is assembled by the ‘Buyer’, damage on delivery cannot be established. In this case a warranty will apply,

http://www.takealot.com/help/exchange-return-policy

If you have received a product which turns out to be defective, please notify us as soon as reasonably possible after you become aware of the defect, but in any event within 6 months after delivery / collection of the product (except in the case of an extended supplier warranty, which is set out below).

I have already lodged my product (purchased bundle) return to be replaced.

What I want to know is how they deal with components like a ‘Faulty’ motherboard, do they invoke the supplier’s warranty (the RMA process)?

This is by no means a rare issue (and even less rare on H81 chipsets with 4 DIMM sockets) and I do have my suspicions that the motherboard which I had received had a prior RMA and was repackaged by the supplier.

I sincerely do not want to wait too long on this and end up with credit… as I seek a replacement. Anyone with experience on such returns?

Check if you didn't bend the CPU pins.

Lol, I have to thank you. You had me go open up everything again, looked over the CPU socket pins again and noticed nothing odd other than one pin which looks longer than the others which I avoided to touch. Nonetheless I reseated the CPU and bang, everything worked as normal. Which I had also done last night… Had you never replied I wouldn’t had bothered to test the system again.

Now I can only hope that it keeps on working.

Thanks man :D

For the record, I baught my mom a stick blender a few months ago, it was clearly stated that the product have a 2 year manufacturers warranty. Within the first week when she used it for the third or so time it broke, the shafft actually broke out the motor (cheap plastic design). I logged a return with Takealot because of the warranty and had no problems. They offered to replace it with a new one, but they also gave me the option of credit. Because I didn't want the same product I asked for credit to my account and they credited me no problem, no lenthy process, no fights, all happend in 3 or 4 days.

I have never exchanged anything with them. But I have returned a good few for credit, including expensive, items for various reasons. For a range of reasons like broken, not what I expected or even changed my mind. Never any questions asked. Super efficient.

I had a Razer Lycosa keyboard exchanged through Takealot. After some moaning I finally got it done - it was the intermittent "key stops working" bug which they couldn't recreate. But eventually they took it back.

I don't think you should have an issue with the motherboard - if they test it and get the same result it should be all good.

Warned? They specifically advise that a credit is given and that if you want a refund to simply advise them after the credit. It's stated very clearly in the return process. Makes sense if probably half those users want to re-buy same or similar. It's convenience.

As for returns, they are excellent. They will often credit a faulty product even after half the warranty period. They must have taken some lessons from Amazon.

I've done exchanges and replacements, they are actually one of the better I've used. Though Kalahari was far better.

Reread his complaint, you have misunderstood him.
