What's up with Takealot's slow shipping lately?

I have 2 separate orders of In Stock items I ordered last week. And the 1 order is only scheduled to ship tomorrow and
the 2nd order is only scheduled to ship on Friday.

Both orders are "In Stock" with takealot. How can in stock items take more than a week to actually ship to me? I've
contacted Takealot but they can't answer me and only say that the orders are shipped when they are meant to be shipped.

I usually had my orders the next day if I ordered early in the morning. I am luckily not the only person I know that is experiencing this.
Few people I know have orders that take forever to ship. If it was something they do not have in stock. Then that's fair and I understand. But how can "In Stock" items take more than a week to actually ship.

Anyone else experiencing this with Takealot lately?

I don't have that problem. Ordered something yesterday and it is being delivered today

Its rubbish atm.

I paid TWICE for next-day shipping and got it 2 days later and its the same old excuse that they tried to deliver and no one was home. Except, the delivery address is a company with someone at the office 24x7....

Experienced the same thing. When I spoke to Takealot about it they said that it's actually in stock with their supplier, not them. So you need to check if a 3rd-party is involved (more often than not nowadays), as that will add to the time. They really should be clearly labelling it when that's the case, otherwise it's pretty deceitful since I order In Stock expecting it to be, you know, in stock with Takealot.

Usually when I order I go the next day to pick it up from the pick up point we have where I live. And it was always the next day. But lately my orders have been taking forever to actually be delivered either to the pickup point or courier.

2 weeks ago when I was at the pickup point a lot of people there were unhappy because their deliveries took so long. Shame one guy was kind of nasty to the person at the counter at the pickup point. Because he apparently waited 2 weeks also for an "in stock" item to be delivered.

Don't know what's going on. But their emails are no helpful either. Because they can't answer the questions or give any help of any kind.

Seems like hellopeter and complaintsboard are full of the same issues recently as well. With "In Stock" items as well.

I haven't had issues with shipping, but delivery is a bit off lately.

Last week I'd ordered an item which initially would have been delivered on the Friday. On the Thursday, I received an SMS that it would be delivered that day between 08:00 and 17:00. That's fine, I figured, the sooner the better. Only issue is... by 17:00 my delivery had not yet arrived and the order status had apparently changed to "delivered" at 16:58 and supposedly signed for by me.
Obviously I was alarmed at this and queried it with TAL. 20 minutes or so later, I get an sms and a call from the driver telling me not to worry, he was bringing my parcel... and by 17:30 I did at least receive it.

OK this is only a problem if you select tomorrow and its not tomorrow.

If its in stock and they say next week and you select that it is what it is and you cant really complain its not late or anything.

Slow yes/.

We sell to Takealot, a lot of people are shifting to their marketplace and reselling as third party sellers because Takealot are pushing their pricing up and making things stupid expensive and when you complain they just say "deal with it" getting warehouse booking slots is very difficult, their DC's are being over delivered to because their orders are stupid. They order weekly instead of like 2 weeks stock. They have also sharing their fleet with other companies such as MR D, Superbalist and now recently PNP.

Collections have also in CT taken a lot longer, they moved to Richwood and the stock sits in Montague Gardens generally so they ship items from MG to Richwood like 2 or 3 times per day but what happens is they check the parcel at MG then ship it to Richwood, then Richwood check the items again and then prepare it for collection, its a lot of checking and time wasting...

Dealing with Takealot as a company has become rather difficult recently... They trying to do too much and personally i don't think they as efficient as they use to be anymore...

Do you think when Amazon launches here in SA, they could cause a lot of trouble? Or at least shake things up a little bit. Because online retailers in SA seem to become worse and worse with service and there is no way to get things sorted out. Takealot, Loot, Raru etc.

I sincerely hope Amazon gives TA the flying PK it so rightly deserves, the "just deal with it" attitude they've taken on in the last couple years is very telling that they think they are untouchable.

Had a order that was for next day collection, prefered to pick it up as it was a 15k camera. Was pushed out for a few days, and when I collected the box it was missing the camera body, lens and battery. Basically an empty box. To their credit they sorted it asap.

I actually have a meeting on Thursday with an American distributor who does our products in the US with Amazon. Amazon counts for 80% of their business so if its anything like the US then it will heavily take away from the likes of Takealot. Personally I think they will have a lot of barriers they not use to... I ran an online store for our company for 6 months and it was hell from rude customers, to couriers dropping ****, sometimes even driving over ****. Theft and and hijackings of couriers is also super high...

Hijacking this thread so I dont have to create a new one

My mom just got a notification that her delivery is on its way. A pack of smart switches and a gaming headset.
I checked, it's legit, yet she didn't order anything!?

They don't seem to allow you to see who purchased the order..weirdness

That’s a new scam.

Don’t open the door.
