You can only ever get a refund for the actual amount you paid. Would a shop refund you the retail value of a product you bought on their summer sale? No, they refund you the amount on the receipt. A discount/coupon has no cash value. If you used a gift voucher it changes things a bit though. Demanding an exchange will only work if they can still source stock somewhere.
 
I have received full refund (even if I used a discount voucher) from other shops if they cant replace the item. I just hope they can still source it as I bought it for a friends housewarming.

Sorry but it was in the vouchers Ts and Cs.
 
I was in a similar boat.....the item wasn't in stock, so they offered me the option of a refund or to wait. I told them I would wait. Item is arriving tomorrow
 
@Id13, So all these vouchers, were you distributing them to "family members" to order on your behalf? :)

My gf needed a WD Live player so I bought cosmo for her and got R100 off the daily deal. Mentioned to friends etc that I'll be getting a 32GB microsd class 10 card for my phone at like R150 after the voucher... they annexed my voucher and demanded some more 32GB awesomeness for themselves. Sorted out quite a few peeps with cards. Went back to PnP to sort myself out at least as well ... to find only July on the shelf :(

The entire Id13 extended family and clan received their Christmas presents early this year.....and the distant relatives received a Cosmo mag for Christmas

Takealot refunded my mate the full R260 for a Ps vita game he ordered during the R200 radio voucher campaign. He paid R60 after the voucher and they refunded him R260 coz they were out of stock.

Did the same for a mate of mine. As a gesture of good will, they should at least offer a limited time period voucher in lieu of the voucher lost on the faulty/non available goods!
 
If any vouchers come through, lemmi know, been eyeing a few things on Take alot, and could do with some saved dosh :P
