I was waiting for my parcel to arrive and phoned the call centre when the driver did not show up at the expected time. They also could not get hold of him. It turns out the poor guy was held up at gun point and robbed of all his parcels.

I highly doubt they will make it his problem but it will of course mean the parcel will come a day later, if you refer to that also as not your problem then you need to wake up, be realistic and show some compassion.

Note how FedEx, DHL and other couriers don't accept COD anymore for incoming shipments (although you can pay cash for outgoing ones) in order to protect their drivers? Takealot has a COD payment option. That probably puts their drivers at higher risk of hijack.
