Taking a break from WoW

I had enough....for now....

There are certain aspects of the game that seem to irritate me these days.
One of them is the hate and sickness i feel toward the game everytime I log on, basically due to I have seen 90% of the content and quests, and only thing to do is grind mats and raid to level up my fellow raiders.

Other is, all free to play games are supported by advertising...why does blizzard advertise on the forums, if they are already charging us for the game..../cry gief discounts.

So with all the little nit bit things I have decided to take me a little break, froze my account and downloaded Runes of Magic (www.runesofmagic.com)

The change has been refreshing, after an hour of trying out different classes I settled for a priest and levelled it to lvl 9. The game seems good (It aint wow, but has interesting similar aspects), and the fresh and story line change from WoW is great.

I probably will come back to WoW after a while, the game has too strong a grip on me. I hope Runes of Magic will deliver a few refreshing ideas, so by the time I come to WoW it will be like seeing a girlfriend after 6 months in Iraq.

My account aint for sale, soz, only taking 2-3 months off.

Character name is Timken of Bronze Dragonflight.

I have progressed as far as my guild permits, they have now gone back to 10 man Naxx to gear the rest of the guild up, and I am a bit bored now of the constant grind.

hmmm ... I agree with a lot of what you're saying. I'll continue to play WoW until Star Wars: Old republic comes out... then you won't see me again. Ever.

Okay but seriously. For me the case was i was getting sick of pve. I just found grinding things boring, whether those things were mobs or dragon bosses or honour or w/e.
Now I spend my nights sieging castles, playing hide and go seek with members of the other faction over wide ranging battlefields.. it's like raiding Stormwind and group ganking in STV every night. Except less ghei. I came to realise that for me PVP was central to my playstyle and that PVE was merely something to do when not knocking skulls. And we're getting some really great content coming up, including, essentially, a free expansion. New classes and content at a price of zip, nada, zilch.

Also LotrO has a special on at Take2, like 50 bucks for Shadows of Angmar. It means 3 gigs of patches but it's cheap and holey moley, is that one purdy lookin game. I'm casually arbing around for kicks and it's easily as deep and complex as WoW for satisfying any pve caerbear needs you may have.

Then theres Champion Online coming soon, Darkfall, DC Universe Online, Star Trek Online, Star Wars:The Old Republic, Aion... this is a great year to toss the old addiction and get a whole new one. Not that I'm saying 'omg quit wow now!', but if you do find yourself tiring of the formula, there's a lot of alternatives currently and in the pipeline out there.

I stay in Alberton/Germiston area, you are welcome to get a client by me, fits on 1 disc and I have all the updates for it, think there was 6 in total.

The game looks good, has very nice graphics and playability. Only thing that bugs me is the unnatural way the characters move. If anyone ever played Oblivion, they will know what I mean. The characters feel like taken from Oblivion in 3rd perspective view.

The game has an interesting way of spending Talent Points, you basically accumulate them via questing, and the next rank of a certain spell will cost u an "x" amount of talent points. New spells open up automatically with new levels.

The game is free to play, but so far I have come across certain parts where if u had diamonds (purchase from the game shop for real money), you could get a pet or a new shiny weapon as an added bonus reward.

I am levelling to try out the dynamic dungeons feature bragged about. Basically every time you enter a dungeon, it is dynamically generated so each experience is a new encounter. Also the elite mobs will 1 shot most peeps excluding the tank.

This is bad, the more I play it, the less likely it is becoming I will return to WoW...

Pit, you do know that it is physically impossible to tackle 2 MMO's at the same time - you could infact die. it's just too much gaming for 1 person.

i'll see if I can find the link - some guy in korea actually Exploded from attempting to play 3 MMO's

I have also frozen my account, it has just gotten boring the last two months and I really don't feel like leveling an alt or helping buddies level etc... And these days when I talk to my buddies all we discuss is wow. I dunno if I will return to wow any time soon. I have just loaded Mass Effect and Fallout 3 and started to play that what a refreshing change.

Eve is something you can juggle...Build up a mining/trading alt, and alt-tab into Eve every 5min (depending on cargo size) to dump ore and warp back to the fields :p
