Taking A Knee

On his own time ?

So when he is getting paid he is not allowed to have an opinion ? He must tow the line or be poor ?
What does his job have to do with politics anyway...
If his job has nothing to do with politics, why did he use his professional position in a public ritual to draw attention to his political platform?

There's nothing stopping NFL players from being rich sportsmen who also go and do political organising outside of the NFL.

He has the freedom to make his statement - but must accept that others wont appreciate it. The lesson to be learned is that you wont get support for your cause by creating division... and he is creating division
Yup. And it's affecting the NFL's bottom line.

No, no, you're right.

Oh, so you weren't actually trying to be factual when you were snowflaking about 'what the left does' as opposed to what's going on here.

So much for "someone not doing their job" :crylaugh:

It's called 'sarcasm'. But I can understand why you're so desperate that you have to take sarcastic comments seriously.

So much for "someone not doing their job" :crylaugh:
So you think someone who turns a business unprofitable is "doing his job". Great stuff.

According to this, "it is recommended that players stand during the national anthem but not required of them."

If that is the case, then he's doing absolutely nothing wrong as per his employers' regulations.

Like I said - they're revisiting their stance... on their stance... in the coming days.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are contractual obligations regarding not putting the team in ill repute.

Using sarcasm as a way to dodge the questions I put to you regarding your lies? Yes, you're right, you are desperate.

So you think someone who turns a business unprofitable is "doing his job". Great stuff.

Well if anyone would know about that...

Yes, I get that. And like I said - he's doing nothing wrong according to their regulations, ie their current official position.

Oh definitely.

There are no lies. My position stands unmolested by your stupidity.

So we agree that if an employee costs a business money, that employee is materially affecting the business prospects of their employer. Glad we settled that.

Sure :D Except all the lies.

Let's talk when the NFL is actually 'unprofitable'. Until then your point is moot.

Nobody is stopping any of the NFL players from protesting on their own time. Criticising someone for not doing their job is not equivalent to threatening free speech. Plus, people not watching the games and expressing their distaste for the sentiments of the players is also a matter of free speech.

If Kaepernick was protesting on his own time and people on the right started trying to get him thrown off the NFL team anyway, only then could you claim some sort of equivalence with what the left has been doing.

Protecting the right to freedom of speech means keeping it legally protected. It doesn't mean protecting people from hearing what others think of their actions.

Jawohl, comrade. Group-think must be enforced from the top down! Dissent not allowed.

If you disagree you'll be fired or suspended, even if on their own time.

Glad to hear the right is totally cool with Google guy getting canned then because it wasn't on his own time and is materially affecting the business prospects of their employer.

How kneeling creates division is beyond me. It just shows that some people will always dislike people speaking up against injustice because it makes them personally uncomfortable, no matter how innocuous.

MLK's marches and protests for civil rights/the freedom riders etc. were all also viewed negatively by a majority.

When they protest in the streets, it's bad, when they quietly sit during the anthem, it's bad, when they kneel, it's bad. Hard to see what they really want is for them to just be quiet.

When it's marches through the streets carrying swastikas and calling themselves Nazis, there are good people. When a person takes a knee he's a son-of-a-bitch.

Welcome to the 'tolerant right'.

I find this hilarious tbh. I would bet most black people in this country would kill to have the type of lifestyle that a poor black person in the US has. This is what CNN considers a poor person who is obviously being oppressed in the US.

In South Africa, this woman would be living a lower-middle class lifestyle.

I worked most of my life for R7 and hour. Still have the payslips to prove it. Doing much better now.

:crylaugh: Only in your head.

I'm not on the right. Secondly Damore was actually asked by his employers as part of his diversity training to give feedback regarding the diversity course he went through. He wrote the memo as a result of the instructions he received at Google as part of his training regimen. The memo was not leaked to the public through Damore's actions.

Sure :D Except all the lies.
You have sure have a fertile imagination.

Let's talk when the NFL is actually 'unprofitable'. Until then your point is moot.
I'm sure you can find your way to google where you can see how NFL revenues have collapsed as a result of the politicisation of the game. Turns out politics cause sports fans to tune out.

I hate it when politics gets involved in sport. The white house and the players kneeling are both guilty of this.

The equivalence is nonsense, though. Taking a knee literally does nothing to disrupt anything, while highlighting an issue of great importance.
With lefties like you, the right is guaranteed to keep winning election after election. You're such a blind moralist that you can no longer even recognise it when you alienate people from your message.

Do you really think Unhappy is going to feel more favourable to the politicisation of sport simply because you approve of the message?

I would have hoped you could read properly, but alas...

So patriotic.

This is how you honor the flag. Kneeling is disrespecting it, remember.

The message itself is odious. To say that it does "nothing to disrupt anything" is patently false. People watch sports to have fun, not to have their political views challenged through political messaging.

So my reading is fine, your understanding of the world is schit.
