Tamagotchis are back

I was actually thinking about this about a year or two ago.

Those things created massive hype and people made a lot of money.

The same thing will happen again, it's going to be another craze people will get loaded and it will die down. Look at the fidget spinner, and I'm sure the yoyos will be back in time again :D

Only difference is this time around everyone has smart phones, not sure they will want a tiny monochrome handheld device when you coukd just download a tamagochi app?

I'm a laatie and I played with one back in the day...
 
I also had one, almost everyone I know had one.

Just dunno how they will compete : monochrome pixels (40x40 or something like that) versus any smart phone.

Think they are banking on nostalgia purchasing.

Yeah i agree.
This is stupid. Why buy something if there has basically been no improvement on the device?

If it was me, I would improve the display, give it Wifi so you can play with your friends (like a Pokemon themed game), or let the Tamagotchi's can mate or something. there are alot of small things they can add to make it a tad more attractive than just having a small piece of rubbish that gives you zero pleasure, and you have to play with it and feed it or it will die -_-
 
All these nostalgia items are a bit of a cash-grab in my opinion, as well as showing some lack of innovation
