Why do you recon it will not work on a PVR :( ... I'll be trying it tonight !

There's a high band and a low band. PVR only receives one of the two, I think it's low, but then it could be high :)

Many of the public bouquets are on the band the pvr can't receive - go search dstv.com pvr forum.

JA WELL THATS TOO BAD, LET THE RICH SUFFER.

Where did their "statement" that is is soooo illegal get them? now a 1000 more people know about it than what would've known about it. :)

If those channels are for promoting relgion. Why is it not on our normal DSTV
Because those channels are free.
NoChoice screw everybody and they probably want them to pay!

At the time, MultiChoice said the company would not include a pornography channel in its bouquet to maintain the subscribers' goodwill.
Heh... wonder how many will "accidentally" be viewing this channel... :p :D

As allways, phoned ICASA and all I get is "Bruce Mkhize is currently un-avaliable, please leave a message"

And I get the same sh** from No-Choice.

ARGH!!! this is all FUD!

have a look at http://www.lyngsat.com/pas68.html

am i right in saying you should be able to then get all the channels there that says F (FreeTV) ?
No, it can be DVB as long as it ONLY DVB and no other encryption. Your decoder can decode a simple DVB signal.
You'll only be able to pickup the stuff beamed to the southern part of africa with your normal dish I'm afraid- the stuff towards the bottom of that list.

well that will still be more than sabc 1,2,3 and eeeeeee so i will give it a shot.

@RPM and others

Could someone that has got a fast link in to ICASA pls get how they justify that statement of "using their (Multichoice) Equipment" and who is the owner of the Satellite decoder in the home.

I am getting knocked from pillar to post...

Nochoice is calling it hacking cause they can't make money of it,they are idiots(mostly) and it's to do with religeon

Hmm,
“strange” according to ICASA……
Illegal according to NoChoice…

They would have us believe that.

It works a bit like this:

Most of those God channels are broadcast from USA and Europe.
They rent transponder space on the PAS 7/10 orbiting over Africa, don't encrypt it and offer it for free and any decoder can pick it up.

BTV the same thing transmitting from Botswana.
This is the beauty of Satellite.

ICASA and SABC and most especially NoChoice do not like this very much at all, but they say “not your satellite, we paying for space, not illegal in our country, not under SA jurisdiction, so up yours baby, we transmit what we like and there’s sweet ****-all you can do about it.”:D

Etv was not so lucky when they were renting their own space and also broadcasting for free.

SABC cried foul and went running to ICASA who told them to stop transmission or encrypt the signal. Afterall, why advertise on SABC tv to South Africa when Etv would be showing your commercials to the entire continent!

Aah well, so much for “Be Free with E”, but they tried at least but had to abide by SA laws I guess.
:(

Maybe it's worth plugging it in again then hey?

How easy is it to get these "programmed"? (i.e. is it just some tuning and then "search" while it populates the found channels on your decoder?

well mine has been lying in the cupboard also for 2 years now. gonna try get at least one channel tonight. from what i can find out after a whole day on google, yep you can get most of those, however you need to tune into each of them that has dif frequencies it seems. but i will start with one and see if it works first...

AT first glance that looks like a few too many.
But then again I'm down in Cape Town with a very small dish.

Do a search and see if you can find any sites showing the footprint from the Pas7/10 over africa. (And only the footprint of the beam pointing towards sub sarahan Africa at that)

Yep, pretty much.
Add the frequency settings and run a rescan all networks each time.
Add Btv first as that works easily.

Found it.
Those frequencies all work for sure.
Oops, I don't know who wrote that stuff but some is wrong:

Vivid:
NIT - Yes
Feq - 11170
Sym - 26652
Pol - Vertical
Fec - 5/6

Btv:
NIT - yes
Feq - 11625
Sym - 15000
Pol - Vertical
Fec - 3/4

ViewAfrica:
NIT - yes
Feq - 12682
Sym - 26657
Pol - Horizontal
Fec - 1/2

My TV:
NIT - yes
Feq - 12722
Sym - 26657
Pol Horizontal
Fec - 1/2

The Fashion Tv, mana, Novacom and the others seem right.
They are all mostly crap but I enjoy the free BBC on Btv.
