What phone do you have? AFAIK you can download a software solution and it will record your calls. These should not cost more than a few dollars (Appstore or Google's Playstore), here is one that is free Record my call that may work if you got an Android powered phone

If you want to be MI5'ish then the law comes into play and you going to pay alot for those "spy" devices

For all intents and purposes it is impossible for a private person to bug your phone unless software has been installed on your phone or they have the rite equipment and that starts at about a million or so rand .
Our GSM is encrypted unlike in the UK so it is not easy to intercept cell communications in this country .

Have you read the RICA act the link is posted above i suggest you read it, that is the law for interception in this country.
I am well aquainted with the act. And do you honestly believe that all parties work within the parameters thereof? Zuma, Leonard Mcarthy tapes ring a bell?
And no I dont believe everything is recorded for posterity, but I am ware that SMS details reside on SP servers for 5 years, and that analytical word match and key phrasing is practiced by our intelligence services. Are you questioning the storage thereof or the fact that electronic analysis takes place?

Yes and No, there are specific areas where intelligence services are excluded and also abetted by other laws.

There is nothing 'random' about algorithmic analysis.

its a BB-Bold, but they would have had to load the software? and configure it to send the data somewhere?
is there a way of hiding the software running on the phone? that it doesn't show up on normal open apps?
Go back in recent history and look at the Henning murder case, then decide if whatever you want to do is worth it
More to the point what do you know about it and who it houses and what its function is ?? (that is not contained in RICA )
