Tar Vs half brick Vs interlock paving

Since the space is so large, smooth concrete is the way to go. Like what they have in the covered parking lots.
That way you can practice your donuts and handbrake turns without putting too much wear on your tyres.

Smooth concrete in an uncovered area is a recipe for disaster.

Any experience on tar Vs half brick Vs interlock paving?
The costs in the Facebook ads are R90, R150 and R250 respectively and I have a huge 280m² area to cover.
Why half brick? For looks or price?

We do concrete pavers for around R330m2 which will last a lifetime. You may have some sagging as the sand settles under the driveway after a few years, but that's easily maintained.

Can't do that with tar

Preparation is key.

Ensure all things growing are killed properly before doing anything.

I had a huge amount of paving done and all good for 3yrs and then the weeds and grass started piercing through.

I would take at least 15cm off the top, spray with decent weed killer and then still place a layer of salt (pool salt) over everything.

All bad solutions in the hands of incompetent contractors.

Are you sure the weeds came from the bottom and not from cracks in-between the pavers, like with every option you need to maintain it. Spray your paving over the course of two weeks and rewash cement in-between the pavers after the weeds died.

Don't some guys lay DPC plastic as well to prevent water seeping through?

That is a long stretch that you can maybe put two narrow tracks going up and only pave the areas between the buildings.
Yeah if budget is a concern then just do two tracks and only pave what is necessary around the buildings. Paying nearly 100k to pave that area is madness when you can do landscaping or something to cover the areas you wont use/drive over. If you don't want grass then just pave what is necessary and put down crushed rocks or something in those areas with grass (properly prepared of course).

Price

R330m2 x 280m2 = R92,400
I'm to poor for that

Fair enough. You can prob half that cost if you pave a driveway and do the rest with gravel.

My advice would be to pave to the value you can afford, and add to it over time. Full paving is best for no maintenance.
