has everyone received their tax forms for this year - for normal individuals, not sme or efiling or anything in that line.

as i see the deadline is 21/11 for manual submission.

am i supposed to request forms, download them (if so which ones)

You should have received a notice with a form to request the forms. :p
Bizarre, I know.

Call in at your local SARS office with your IRP5 etc. They will do everything electronically and even tell you what to expect :)

You were supposed to receive a form, asking which sections you needed in your tax return.

Then you are supposed to receive your tax return, with your IPR5 info all filled in for you.

I only received my return Friday, after phoning them to ask where my forms were. And they had nothing filled in, except my name and address (the normal stuff).

It seems like they're actively trying to discourage people from doing it offline :(

I have never submitted "tax", although I have been paying for years. But this is my first IRP5. Tried to register for efiling, and got stuck on the IRP5 about 8 months ago, so im half registered. I have received my IRP5 now. I will need to submit that to them. what do I do after that? Do I need to that before the 21st???? TIA

Im a sars noob

also, what is the penalty for not submitting tax previously? How would they go about proving that?
And would my salary slips as proof of paying tax help me? Or is it not submitting tax that carries the pentalty?

mmmmm.....guess its too late to request the form too request my forms

Not at all! I requested my dad's forms over the phone the other day - week later we had them. We also thought we were too late, so we kept the efiling option open for in case.

Re-Run the efiling, if your employer is registered the IRP5 should have been sent to sars already, and will show up on your efiling online page thing after you refresh it - or something

With my mom everything on the online form was already filled in, they just ask you for your address details and if you received any other income (dividends, interest), and eg. what contributions you made to a medical funds - everything in a PDF document that you just fill in.

might try this option tomorrow, as i don't have my irp5 with me. would they also need my "med-aid-irp5"? as last year i lost mine before filing in, and i made up figures as i went a long

I think that you can request an ITR12 returns form from within eFiling.

I requested my IT12C 2 weeks ago and haven't received it either. Will phone again tomorrow to enquire.

Have heard of several people who haven't received their tax returns yet after requesting them telephonically. I'm predicting an extension of the deadline...

Trying to re-register for e-filing now..

Tax Practitioner Number? What is that? I see nothing of the kind on my IRP5
Also asks me whether I wanna register for provisional tax?

If you're doing your tax yourself, you won't have a tax practitioner or practitioner number.

If you're an employee with only a salary and no business income or interest income exceeding R19 000 per year, you don't have to register for provisional tax. I'm registered (have to) and it's a pain in the ****.

Grr. They've taken so long to send the forms, and now some of my pre-printed info is wrong, and there's no place to correct it. And my IRP5 data isn't filled in.

But there's no time left, now, to request new (correct) forms, because it's due on the 21st.

So I'm now forced into using eFiling. Which means I'm also forced into using the latest version of Adobe Reader (which I hate, because it insists on doing updates without asking you). And even worse, the eFiling site doesn't even tell you which version you need... so I've installed 8.0, which it doesn't like; then 9.0, which it doesn't like either. Luckily I had copies on the server at work, so I didn't have to download 50Mb of uselessness.

I'm really getting angry with SARS, now.

Does anyone know which version of Reader you actually need?

You need Adobe Reader version 8.1. If you want to stop your reader from doing an auto update, on your computer go to c:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe. Now here you will find a folder called "Updater". It may have some number after it like Updater5, Updater6 or something similar. Just delete this folder.
