tax return 2011

Logged my tax return on Monday, got my assessment this morning. Must say I'm quite impressed with the turnaround time. It's actually funny how the government department responsible for money is so efficient.

I hope its a threshold or something, that rompts the 'selected for audit'.

no identity - if there is a change in the refund they system will automatically select the return for an audit. e.g. last year you got a refund of R8 000 this year it is a larger amount so they just want to check that everything is in order. there is nothing untoward so all you do is upload the necessary documents and they can see there is nothing wrong and they will go ahead and process the refund. nothing to worry about here.
 
What a mess: previous employer's payroll system filed an IRP5 and somehow in the process re-registered me as a taxpayer with a new tax ref. number. So now I am registered as 2 taxpayers, with 2 IRP5s with different tax ref numbers

I foresee a long, painful process ahead at a SARS office to clear up this mess #smh
 
Naks, do try the phone first. The few times I've phoned them, the people on the other side actually knew what they were doing. :eek:
 
Okay just received a notice of a statement of account.
The only change now, is that the 'selected for audit' is now 'No'.
The unprocessed payment is still 0.00.

What is happening now? Have they paid me? Or is the amount in limbo until the supporting documentation has been loooked at?

Same with me yesterday, got paid out today.

Does it say Electronic payment on the statement?

You will have to go to the branch to sort it out, happened to me last year, 4 hours at the Randburg branch. They sorted it out for me, and also did my return, though they did it completely wrong ;-)

yay! i had to submit documentation for audit :/ i think 10k+ is automatic audit.
