tax return 2011

I reveived notification via SMS of my Notice of Assesment and Statement of Account this morning, which means that my 2010/11 Tax season has been finalised. I filed through e-filing Friday morning at about 07:30. Statement amount = -0.21. Last year it was a lot better, but this year I did not want to be bothered by being forced to keep a logbook and drive a lot of KMs, so I restructured my package in included my car allowance in my TGP. Still undicided if it was a good move or not, but sure is a lot less hassles!

I get the car allowance but did not use my car for official use (company did not need me to) :(

Yea i was also too lazy to keep a log book because my business driving is very sporadic. Last year they still allowed you to fill in the form without the logbook, this year they just grey out the whole section. This meant i was done with my efiling in like 5 minutes ;-)

I am however still getting a alot of money back from SARS [more than before] , and most of it is coming from my Annuity/Pension payments. I've increased this significantly in the past year and hell it's alot of money that is tax deductible at the end of the day.

Anyway, i filed on Saterday, and today they already sms'ed me with noticed of the final assessment and statement of account...either SARS is working on sundays or my tax return is so standard they just auto-process it.

I keep one for work but its not the official SARS one, should I quickly transcribe from mine to theirs? I do less than 8k KM per year.

no - do not listen to anyone here please. just do a spread sheet in case they want you to upload it and that is it. if you need any assistance please pm me.

SARS must be working on sundays as I just received my email stating my IT34 form has been uploaded onto SARS and that I must log in to check it. Atleast I'm getting money back from them, even though its only R1600. Anyway now let's wait to see how long they take to pay out.

Its an automated system, only exceptions and random cases selected for an audit are dealt with by humans.

Well I filed my claim Friday afternoon.. got my assement through on Sunday morning

And unbelievably the R-8000 they owe me reflected in my account already.

Way to to go SARS!! :)

I recon I'll be asked for proof of my claims again... would be nice if it was that quick though...

What bank are you using? Can't be ABSA as I use ABSA (and all receiving payments are slow compared to other banks). I filed on friday morning, received my IT34 already, but no payment as of yet

Uploaded documents yesterday afternoon - this morning I had an email requesting supporting documents.... uploaded those, lets see how long it takes.

Submitted mine Friday around 12, got an sms yesterday saying its done and they owe me bucks :)

I managed to claim back around 10% of my gross annual salary - lets hope they pay it.

Can anyone help me? Don't know how to submit via e-filing. The info they have in there is old. Employer has given new info. Do I need to manually update that old info or can I upload the new IRP5 to e-filing?

I think there's a refresh IRP5 data button somewhere? AFAIK - it should automatically reflect if the company updated it with SARS.
