when are habitual criminals going to be locked up for good? i mean if a guy is caught with multiple traffic violations against him then he is an habitual criminal so lock him up and throw away the key.

A Pietermaritzburg minibus taxi driver was jailed on Thursday for 12 years for knocking down and killing a traffic officer.

If he had been convicted of murder he could have been jailed for life.

Drivers such as Mbonambi, who was driving without a permit, pleaded for leniency when they came before court, saying they had to support their families.

And this makes killing the officer more acceptable somehow?

That taxi driver should not be allowed to see the light of day without a warden standing next to him... how can you kill someone but only get 12 years?
