I hope the dept of Education deals with the student adequately - it should be swift and harsh - assaulting a teacher with no line of defence should be a non crossable line - and if you cross it the punishment should be severe - regardless of whatever caused this to happen.

So from what I have been told there was some assignment being done where books were not allowed, teacher told learner to put the book away (as in cheating) but this wasn't done - teacher then approached the learner and made a grab or something for the book (mistake in my opinion, just fail the learner) where the pages got ruffled up - there was a bit of a tussle between teacher and the learner over the book, where the teacher then let go of the book and walked up front - this is where the video starts and learner subsequently gets up and assaults the teacher.

Anyhow I stand to be corrected on the finer points, but I think that's sort of the sequence.

As for now I gather learner on temp suspension, teacher has been called in for whatever and so has the pupil that did the filming - but anyhow just your normal high school **** except for the assault and social media blow up.

Teaching is a thankless job especially with a spineless DOE, I wonder what backing the teacher will get.

It will probably escalate into 'the teacher called me the k word', the eff will protest outside the school about racism, teacher will get fired and pulled in front of the human rights commission while beign found guilty by the media and public at large. Good luck to her as there is no good outcome to this unfortunately.

It's almost always the fault of the parent. Kids that are well behaved at home will mostly be well behaved outside. This thing obviously gets no discipline at home.

Beerguy, look at this post now for example. This is the kind of thinking I am referring to. And this kind of post is not an outlier on this forum, it's kind of expected. While I completely agree that most kids in that class can be referred to as animals for their behaviour, just look at the way the "person" phrases his post.

i was in this specific school actually, was pretty decent when i was there and i turned out to be a decent human being too, as time went by after we matriculated in 2007 a lot of the amazing teachers started leaving there, all of them citing the same reason. they have no rights to discipline children and the children are getting out of control, they tried approaching parents as discipline starts at home essentially but it turned out the modern parent are spineless and want to be their childrens friend more than a parent.
